Turns out, that actually saved me because the moment I spawned in, I saw that it was foggy :D So I was able to loot the starter house and sneak south to the woods, then west and back north to the three isolated houses to set up a base. Went reasonably well from that point on, but I'm quite certain the lucky fog is what allowed me to get out of the town initially.
I am trying a custom sandbox with insane pop, (4.0, 4.0 day 1, no zed respawns) slow shamblers, weak and fragile, but normal sight, hearing and smell. Starting in the prison (pillows random spawns mod) with a start date of 1st December. I haven't escaped the prison yet, although I am normally at 150+ kills by day 2.
I'm testing for a youtube series I want to make based off the book I Am Legend, with the aim of clearing the map of all zombies, but I am starting to think it might not be possible.
I am not talking about the "standard" insane population level, I am talking about MAX population on day 1. There is a big difference. Read the description, not just the title.
That being said, no. I would never try that. Why would anyone try that? It's an interesting gimmick I guess, but it'd play out the same way any normal playthrough would: immediately find a route out of the city and then engage in diversionary tactics to loot cities. Only on a larger and far more annoying scale. While I love difficult games (seeing as I have over 1k hours in Zomboid), that's just a masochists pipe dream of a setting.
More power to you if you try it and succeed though.
I was testing for an "I am Legend" RP game that I was going to put up on Youtube, with the intent to clear the map... everything would be urban based, not a countryside survival run. Problem is, I haven't made it past the second day in my tests so far.
Was just wondering if I am just trying to do something that probably isn't possible.
From my tests so far, it appears that the best place to start is in the prison, although I think if I am going to have any success I will have to turn zombification off, that way, as long as I can get away from a horde, I will have a chance to survive.
I am kind of relying on that. The zeds are heavily attracted to the area, so they are pulled in to me. If I can clear my starting location, eventually I will end up with a relatively empty cell to be based out of and work from. The prison has unbreakable windows that attracts groups and fixes them in place, leaving me with a few minimal entry points for the wider zombie population to get through. Admittedly, regular doors and windows don’t survive more than a couple of hours as the zeds are set to allow environmental interaction. So the prison fills up fast. It’s supposed to be a heavy combat run, not a stealthy one. 😂
As I have already said though, the initial clearance is insanely difficult (as should be expected).
I might just start the recorded run and keep putting up my attempts until I decide it can’t be done or I get somewhere.
😂 survived longer than some of my attempts 😂
