There are probably some bags in the mansions South West of you
Plastic and tote bags are decent if you have nothing else...but they use secondary hand
I actually never use plastic bags, due to secondary hand useage they even distort the aim of single weapons slightly. (Well or perhaps i just imagine it but it still happens to me!:D)
Dont forget to check trunks, i often find hiking bags or large hiking bags in them.
Also in that part of Muldraugh your best bet is to check all the rich houses south of you, usually one has one, if not bad RNG luck.
Better than nothing anyway
Of course, before finding better...
Still, i often use a bag (a good one...;D) in second hand as i tend to favor short blunt for plenty reasons...and they all one handed
Same with melee weapons. I have at least 15 of what this game considers "melee weapons" in my house, and in the game you are lucky to find anything bigger than a bread knife in most houses.
Even changing the loot settings does not make that much of a difference.
School bag and satchels - schools, lockers tend to have quite a few
duffel bag - random zeds roaming or 2-3 escaped prisoner mini event
hiking bags - In 2 storey houses
I tend to head towards a gas station at the start so if I haven't found a bag when I get there I'll put all the loot I don't need immediately in carrier bags and get it later, that way your only picking up a single item or two rather than transferring loads of stuff.
if your feeling adventerous and think you got the skills / balls to do it, the military base north of rosewood is another place you will almost 100% find a military alice pack or two, the catch is, its far off the beaten path, full of zombies, and quite dangerous. if you do decide to go that way, you best be ready.
also, going there very early on is your best bet, before max population hits, and before the trees get to grow in.
of course all of this is dependent on what settings you use for your game. such as zombie populations, gear rarity, errosion settings etc.
A much safer option especially if he is in Muldrough, to take the side road on the south, ( https://map.projectzomboid.com/?#0.5055844060494281,0.3270315349727349,46.005119909369675
)
then continue heading east, until he reaches another fork in the road where he can turn south, then follow that road through, till he gets back to the main road. (From there he can go back whereever he wants.)
Along this road there is a pretty high chance he will run into a coupled together zombied band which has one survivor with an alice backpack. Safer, and easier. Usually you can find these guys on sideroads.
This is also convenient to then unload the loot to my base, fill the backpack and carry 2 bags in my hands in. Like going shopping
