M16 M14 question/issue

I've noticed that the M14 and M16 use the same ammo and magazines in the game. I found out from a modder that the M14 was supposed to use 308 ammo and special mags. I've found several of the mags and they don't work on either the M14 or the 788 rifle. Also comparing range and damage the M16 does far more damage then the M14 which I think should be the other way around. Has anyone else noticed this? It's a problem to find mags that have no gun to go with.

m16 takes the 5.56 ammo in a 30 round mag
the m14 takes 20 rounds of 308

Everything about the m16 is unique. Unless some mods expanded on the 5.56 ammo.

Well the direct translation is:
"Right click on the charger, have the "Manufacturing Helper" mod, open it and there will be the option to convert the charger, and then it will be working"

Still confused as to why they rezzed it or what they're even talking about
