iam pressing default button rbracket. no mods
you have to click the pick up tab on the left of the screen and then to set it down again as well. some items require skill lvls to move.

ah thank you. didn't noticed that stuff. now i can move furniture:lunar2019grinningpig:
The pick up/place tab just works only with small/medium furnitures or objects for me. I just messed up all my sleeping possibilities in base. Maybe I don't have the skill - which skill btw (?) but if I try even a coach or a simple-, or double bed ofc, only 1/2 or 1/4 pice is with me...or on the floor. The others are disappearing and there is no furniture under the place tab as well.

I have level 3-4 carpentry and 5 Strength, No mods.

I see there is a chance to brake the furniture!

Now I have 2/2 parts and if I try to place the ghost of the furniture is appearing properly but there is no possible place to move it every spot is red.

The parts are in my main inventory. All the requirements are green. Big empty floored area.

you can rotate the furniture while trying to place it.

Yes some furniture placement may require skills or abilities. Usually it is just strength though. And some even require tools. Like window placement or removal. (Wish we could take out doors and not just dismantle them some of the doors look so fancy and shame i cant build such!)

Being able to remove doors would be nice. It kind of sucks to have to replace a door with a crappy looking wooden one on preexisting buildings.
I tried to rotate, but I am sure there are no shortage of available empty/clean space. I even tried just put back to the original and unvaried spot, but its red...I cannot. According to the pop up window (during the process) all the skills, and tools etc. requirements are green. At least the mentioned requirements.

Anyway I think if the bigger objects are moved in parts then strength shouldnt matter. Basically the in-game method is / would be very good and realistic. Just a little bugged yet or at least should be more informative. I even accept that, if I could disassemble but I cannot re-assemble. I know that feeling. :) I need one more level of the relevant skill, maybe.

That is another aspect, even a level 1 survivor should be able to do that if he/she is a Carpenter!
...btw, the in-game disassemble means salvage, right? I am new to this game. ...or if you proprely disassembled then you could get all the parts which are ready to build a new one somwhere else? ...if the skills are ok, ofc. I am a bit confused.

but I love this game. are the devs and patchers still active?

Post a screenshot.

Both the tiles need to be in your MAIN inventory(not in backpack!!!!) or one can be very near on the ground. Else you will get red placement.
Example of picking up a couch.

A couch comes in two pieces, 1of2 and 2of2. If your skills are lacking, and you try to pick up the couch, you could break one piece, and end up with just piece 2of2. Since you are missing 1of2, you cannot place the couch.

The '2of2' can be confusing, because it makes you think you have both pieces.

yeah, that's right, probably you have 2of2 and miss 1of2 part
you can pick up another couch, for example, until you find the missing part
