By making stairs and laying down a floor.

Thats silly tho, either there should be a roof option or it should be automatic when you have build your walls.

Eh, it makes sense though. I mean if your building a house and your on the first floor, you would need something to elevate yourself to make a roof. Maybe they could add a step stool or something that lets you build a roof without stairs.

Building a real roof takes a lot of skill. Especially if you want it to not collapse. That is simulated by you having to build stairs first, which requires skill to build.

well seeing my walls are ♥♥♥♥, i could make a roof that is ♥♥♥♥ too.
Also this is a game not real life, not much of the other building makes sense either.

I'm honestly Surprised that there aren't roofs in the game. It really doesn't take much for example, like tarps and branches just to start... Not great, but it works.

Lean-to's are also simple to make, having been used for centuries... Thatch roofing... Not everything needs to be as architecturally mandated as we have it IRL... Homes were being built long before engineers had a job title.

I assume roofs will be added at some point in one way or another. It'll probably start off as something ghetto like tarp / corragated metal sheets, just something to keep the rain out. Then it'll probably be thatch roofs like Paladin said, it'd tie in nicely with foraging having to get all those sticks, maybe some simple shingle roofs with high enough carpentry skill.

They don't have a big team and at the moment they aren't focesing on player construction. It's annoying but totally understandable, right now I think they are far more concerned with NPCs, vehicles(?) and whatever else they talk about in thier mondoids.

I think it's safe to assume we will get roofs of some fashion in time.

And ponds?

Dev's?

W-w-will we get ponds? Can we build ponds?

...

Please?

install hydrocraft for ponds . You can even fish in them

Is there much variety in building a house? From the videos I've seen it looks most buildings look similar. Doesn't seem like there is much for decorations either. I guess starbound had spoiled me lol

Do most people build a house from scratch or take over an existing house?

well aslong as there is no roof options its just bad to build your own house.

Its not bad to build your own base, it works great. Unless your concerned with looks.

There is a option, build stairs and you can build your roof, heck no clue where is your problem...

Anybody remembers the time when self made roofs didnt protect you from getting wet at all?

Damn ya you can move furniture to a house you built. That really opens up this game alot for me. As if it wasnt already an epic game now its even better. :)
