As a side note, why cant we eat Spiffo dolls?
He just looks so tasty..
Generally I make roasts in the summer consisting of 1-2 meats and the rest veggies from the garden. Even with a high activity level the food is quite plentiful so just eat frequently if you are chopping wood or running around a lot. I thought winter would be difficult but with all the salted meat it's quite easy. I never even touched the ten or so crates of canned and jarred stuff I have.
What about a vegan diet? They don't go "skeletal surivor".
So far I took up fishing but the trek there is very annoying and it has to be done every two days. And this means my base can't be very far from that tiny lake either. Also apparently you can't overfish so i will have to stop so i don't kill all fish.
This is funny,zombies are less threat than starvation lol
I wouldn't worry too much. Below 75 is the threshold for low weight. If you are at 80, you're still fine.
PS: Vegetables aren't a good source of calories, which is how you gain/lose weight (yes, im talking about real life as well). In order to reach the 2,000 calorie daily suggested limit for an average adult, you'd have to eat 12-13 potato's every day. And it wouldn't even be possible with carrots or tomatos, since each of them are about 25 calories each (so you are looking at roughly 80 carrots or tomatos, EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.) . It's all about calories my dude. Nothing else matters. Cooking food doesn't magically make it's calorie count increase.
After that I am going to end up like the Somalia guys.
Also,
winter.
The problem is the better your cooking skill the harder it is to gain weight!
Higher cooking skill lets you cook food that stuffs more but is made of fewer ingredients.
Ingredients have calories. The higher your cooking skill the less ingredients you need to cook a dish that have enough hunger points to make you fully stuffed.
In the end effect you cant eat enough because you are stuffed but the food that you eat does not provide enough calories.
I am only a player i have not the time and the tools to fully test it out....but i posted about this problem about one year ago and nobody cares:

I think later in game when your cooking skill is high enough to use ingredients that are allready stalled you will gain weight a bit easier. Stalled ingredients have only small ammount of hunger points but full calories. Means the dishes are made from much more ingredients but dont stuff you that much. So you can consume more ingredients and gain more calories. Its long ago i tested it and not 100% sure how it works just test it out.
bud you can't gain weight in your game. I've had my character eat 4 to 6 meals that in real life I wouldn't even be able to eat two of. And still lose weight. Fix your game and get the animations in there
...........................Calories in PZ...........................................................Calories in reality:
Potatos........70/fruit <-> 3,88/hunger point...............................................77 / 100g
Cabbage....178/fruit <-> 7,12/hunger point..............................................25 / 100g
Carrot...........25/fruit <-> 3,125/hunger point...........................................41 / 100g
Broccoli........11/fruit <-> 1,22/hunger point..............................................34 / 100g
Tomato.........24/fruit <-> 2/hunger point....................................................18 / 100g
The best vegetable in PZ is cabbage cos it gives the most calories per hunger point.
In other words eating cabbage will gain you most calories till becoming stuffed.
Broccoli and tomatoes are calorie traps!
While in reality potatoes have 3 times more calories than cabbages in PZ cabbages have 3 times more calories than potatoes.
I tested a bit and thats what i found out:
raw carrot: 25 calories / 8 hunger points --->3,125 calories/hunger point
carrot as a raw meal in frying pan: 25 calories / 8 hunger points (cooking skill 0) --->3,125 calories/hunger point
carrot as a cooked meal in frying pan: 25 calories / 10 hunger points (cooking skill 0) --->2,5 calories/hunger point
carrot as a raw meal in frying pan: 36,46 calories / 9 hunger points (cooking skill 10) --->4,05 calories/hunger point
carrot as a cooked meal in frying pan: 36,46 calories / 12 hunger points (cooking skill 10) --->3,03 calories/hunger point
What is the conclusion?:
Eat cabbages and potatoes. Prepare meals but dont cook them.
Higher cooking skill does help you to gain weight as long as you dont cook your meals.
For example salads are good.
Cooking meals does not increase the calories you get out of that meal it only increases the hunger points that you get out of it.
Fruit salads and meat is also good to get calories, but have in mind uncooked meat is not healthy in PZ.
But i tried the game first without any calculations and it is possible to gain weight through foraging, trapping farming and cooking!
You should just eat a lot. At first eat smaller meals and things till you are nearly stuffed and then just eat a real big meal(something above 60 hunger points). After 1-2 hours you will start to become hungry and then just eat a big meal again and again....Doing this you will start to gain weight but you should be patient cos it needs about 2-3 days till your diet will bear fruits!
In my oppinion the whole calorie/farming/cooking system is not logical and not balanced out but as a player you can deal with it.
