Does smoker trait go away after some time?

Nope but there is a mod that makes it so if you don't smoke for a few weeks it goes away, and if you start smoking it comes back.

It's not like you could respend those positive trait points you get back anyway so it becomes null in void in a sense that if you don't want it (or would quit smoking in game) then why choose it in the first place. Smoker is a great perk. You can find cigs everywhere and the debuff really doesn't show up all that much. It's a free +4 points in my opinion.

to be fair, even when someone quits smoking, they will still get the itch to smoke. the addiction is still there, it just doesn't have the strength left to hurt you. it's like a weakened predator waiting for an opening to attack when you're weakened.

just ask anyone who was a smoker and quit if they ever feel the urge to smoke. if they ever think about wanting a cigarette.

True, I quit smoking in 2013-ish. I still feel like an "itch" to smoke, after 9 years.

I smoked for 25 years, quit cold turkey 2 years ago and haven't touched one since. I never have the urge to smoke and if someone smokes around me it makes me want to *puke*.

Oh and smokers, you may not realize it but you *stink*. It's disgusting.

iv'e stopped smoking cigs 2 year ago almost 3 , 10th of may 2020 i never get an urge to smoke ever loool i'm so glad I stopped just the smell of someone smoking makes me happy i've stopped

Nope, since quitting smoking, it completely goes away. There is no want to smoke.

My mother stopped 20 years ago and still feels the itch when someone is smoking around her. Doesn´t mean she wants to start ever again, but the itch is still there. Even though she can´t stand the smell of cigaretts anymore and get sick from it she admits to still feel it when arround smoker. Our brain can be very determind if it wants something very badly.

Smoker trait is one of the best negative traits you can choose for your character. Cigaretts are easy to come by and 1 or 2 smokes a day are enough to satisfy your characters "itch". And even if you can´t smoke for a while you don´t have to deal with any bigger issues.

Another good negative trait is pacifist. You get less xp while using firearm weapons and thats it. If you are not much into firearms you won´t care about the less xp gain and if you are into firearms you will shoot al lot and therefore still make good progression.
