Restore car siren invulnerability
Hi there I want to know if there's a way and how to restore car sirens to what they used to be, I find ridiculous as I'm using a firetruck as bait and a couple zombies come and rustle around a bit aaaaand the 25tons vehicle breaks down...

Effing stupid, balancing things for the sake of "people are exploiting this" well genius yes that's what we would do in a real situation and I doubt the zombies would flip the car/truck and burn it since that's the damn effing way to turn off a siren on an EMERGENCY VEHICLE

Regardless, the belief that we can’t patch exploits in our own game is frankly absurd, realistic or not — it’s a game, not a simulation, which implies gameplay. That’s assuming I were to buy into the idea that zombies jostling a normal sized vehicle (see above) couldn’t somehow dislodge something, even without reaching the light bar.

To be clear: I thought it was a bit odd compared to just limiting the number of zombies that’d respond and or lowering the volume (a largely invisible change for all but the worst exploiters); I also the ability to fix them in before it got released; but, seeing an argument laid out like this does it no favours.

Nope, I don't buy it. This was a bad fix made because it was reported not because it was an exploit, nothing wrong with attracting zombies with noises and lights and I don't know how many emergency vehicles have you guys seen but dead meat thumping on them isn't going to "dislodge" an integral part which are the siren+lights.

You guys just saw this was making things easier and effed it up out of some weird sense of balance.

A bad fix.

If it was "Realistic" the zombies would climb ontop of eachother and eventualy reach every part of the vehicle anyways :P

Glad to know you see nothing wrong with attracting an entire town to a single, dense point then killing them, with absolutely no skill or effort in a video game, but I can’t say it does anything for me. But sure, it’d be reasonably effective in real life, as well — just as it still is, if you pick the right vehicle, the whole point of my post, I might add.

Oh and is “dead meat” a variation on the rotting corpse angle some people keep using to justify their power fantasy? I’m done humouring that, too.

All it would take is knifing a fuse, wire, or battery terminal lose.

Listen, if we cant' argue with you due to Steam forums policy since you're a mod? why are you even arguing back? you don't have to humor anything... you sound extremely arrogant.

I'm not even asking that, I'm asking for a way to turn it OFF, you don't need to participate in every single discussion about "your" game especially like this, you sound disdainful and patronizing.

Go outside, take a breather and leave people alone you smug jerk.

it's perfectly imaginable that zombies would reach (and they really can reach) the lightbar on EVERY vanilla vehicle. this game is balanced around vanilla. the firefighter truck is a MOD vehicle, thus I suggest you take this request to the mod author

fix is fine, it is just like when B41 came out where everyone thought the game was too hard, just have to learn to live without the easy siren to distract everything undead that crawls in west point. never liked the idea flipping on a siren and making an area 80% zed free, worst is killing them. good idea in realism but I rather have the nerf verison. plus you're be shocked what a mass of people can do to a car if they all worked together, the zombies are a rotting wall of death to any that dare to fight unprepared.

I live in Minneapolis, I beg to differ.

As a server admin, I'd say that this was a necessary default option with both how sirening will draw super hordes that lag out a server, and how sirening is used as a griefing tactic.

*Has a valid argument*
'NoPe I dOn'T BuY iT'

... And yet you're calling the mod arrogant?
I found this becuase i'm just playing the game again trying to do this and i wondered why the siren kept turning off haha, but i do remember it being overpowered so the change is welcome imo

to those who want siren cars to work forever just put it in the middle of a car fort where zeds cannot reach it.

This is the correct answer for those wishing to keep use this tactic. If you would like a visual example, Cromulent Archer just recently used this tactic to great success on his YT series.

For me I'll keep using pipe bombs and cackling like The Hobgoblin. Very subtle and stealthy.

We can try to reproduce it in real lyfe by placing ambulance somewhere around Octoberfest.

They can but rather not the siren light itself, just the zombies tearing apart the battery/engine will indirectly kill it.

The zombie would not be able to pinpoint the noise of the siren directly, like has anyone stood nearby something loud? You know its general direction but not exact location so therefore the zombies wouldn't know where to hit but the doors and windows maybe

Well, they could reach it, yes, but knowing to destroy it is another question, and also destroying the lightbar doesn't mean that they could destroy the separate part making the noise
