Zombie Awareness of Player
Is there something that I don't know about zombie detection? I woud literally sit in a house, and just afk there doing absolutely nothing. The lights are off, the windows are completely closed with boards and bedsheets. I am making absolutely 0 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ noise. Then, literally a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hoard of zombies are breaking down my door for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason. How the hell do they know where I am? How the ♥♥♥♥ do you have a safehouse if they just mystically know where you are even if you are literally doing nothing and there is no way for them to detect me?

Zombies wander and are drawn by noises from elsewhere. If a zombie smashes a window then it'll draw nearby zombies to it. If your safehouse is in the way they'll break through it

1: Zeds wandering aimlessly. When they find obstacle, they begin thump on it. Noise attract more zeds.
2: Zeds migrating to fill empty areas. Same as above.
3: Metaevents makes noise: gunshot, dog barking, etc. Zeds act as above.

I'm recommend to turn off environmental attack in sandbox settings. Zeds wont attack player made buildings, doors & windows when they are not agitated. (They still doing it when they are attracted by player / metaevent sounds.)

I remember in build 40, zeds would make a straight line for noise, especially house alarms, and if your house was in that line they would try to go through rather than around. Is that still the case?

The weather can also make them seek shelter, I believe.

In any case, I'm pretty sure something is triggering them to find you, you just don't know what it is yet.

Yes. Until they calming down (in your example, house alarm stop), they moving beeline toward the noise. If your house blocks their way, they start thumping.
If enviro attack off, and the noise stop, they just stop at your wall.
But. If at least one is already thumping your wall / door / window it continue doing it for a bit. This noise can attract others. Etc etc. So even if enviro attack is off, you can find zeds sieging your walls.
