Zombies detect the character too fast.
Hi there people,

I think since the last update, 41.36 I think it is, zombies are detecting my character too fast. Even when I go in stealth mode (and even having the traits of stealthy and discreet).

Maybe there is a little bug out there.

They can also be my appreciations about that. Did anyone else notice this playing the game?.

Cheers!.

I forgot to mention that I also tried myopic zombies and I thought they detected the character really easy indeed (playing in the same way i said before).

Depends on what your opinion of "detecting too fast" is tbh?
Sometimes you can just walk up to them and they only notice you 2 feet away...

With "too fast" I wanted to say that even going in stealth mode (and having the traits of stealthy and discreet) the zombies detect the character when you are in a distance from them that before the 41.36 they didn´t detect.

that's not enough to go by, are you crouched behind something? line of sight? shoes? time of day? zombie facing direction? all that factors into it
if there is no object between you and a zombie in broad daylight, I think it's only reasonable if you get spotted from at least a screen away, but I think it's set to half a screen in plain view now

Thanks for the answers.

Darn.
Does that mean my base is going to start getting zombies around it?!! :funnycube:

Actually, I've been noticing the same thing. I've selected my current character's occupation to thief which means he should have some good sneaking. In fact I levelled up my sneaking, nimble and lightfooted, but still it seems that sometimes they just see you way quickly, while others don't. Idk, maybe it works randomly. Others commented that it depends on various factors such as weather, time of day, obstacles between you and zombies, which I agree with all of them as they could really make a difference.

Same here, sneaking from behind a house (while display zoomed completely out) on the other side of the display is a zombie facing the other way but he notices me (happens also while aim walking). Also not able to get rid of a zombie this way (need to walk further than one complete zoomed out display length before he stops following)

I've been playing the new version for a couple of hours and compared to the stable version it seems that the zombies are smarter? but they do spot you quicker than before, they act more like infected people rather than a rotten corpse, wich is fine i guess. :bleach:

Aim walking is no longer considered 'sneaking'. And walking makes noise and visible clues to your location.
It also depends on your traits, and how much you leveled your skills, how loud you are.

Also, from v40 to v41, a bug was fixed where zombies were not noticing you (pre v41) when they should have been.

One thing I've been seeing a lot of is that they'll either spot or hear you somewhere then walk to that location regardless of whether you move away from it and then immediately turn around and pursue you at your new location.

(v41) Are you running or walking? Both are highly visible to zombies so they will continue to pursue you. In pre-41, sneaking was different than it is in v41.

I have 2 bars lightfoot and sneaking, and can run crouched past hordes with ease :) sometimes 1-2 zombies sees you but its not a problem

Whenever I spawn into a custom map I get zeds right next to me at times. I've been bit constantly right after loading a character in. No movement, just have to be los and they will go straight for you.

^ Key words there being 'custom map'. I am not sure if you are just making a statement, or complaining about it.

The devs set vanilla game spawn points so there are no zombies spawning right on top of you.

VERY good to know, and completely explains my last few utterly catastrophic runs in Kingsmouth. Thx Willie.
