The version you have can be played without Steam too, though, in case you're just after a DRM free copy.
To do so, open the ProjectZomboid**.bat file with a text editor and change
-Dzomboid.steam=1
to
-Dzomboid.steam=0
Thank You very much.:)
some games are only available for a short period of time but project zomboid was in it a few times

In addition to this, update are very very late on GoG, by exemple there's no beta then no cars.
No mods, no multi, i was bored very quickly. Really i dont recommend to buy this game on GoG.
Maybe later when the devs will bring more matter i will buy it again on Steam.
The whole point of GOG is that you own a copy of the game, and Not rent it which you do on steam.
I am working on taking every game I own for steam (if sold on GOG), and replacing it with GOG versions.
I am sick to death of renting things I pay full price for.
Yeah, I'm aware of this, and I check several times every day.
Thanks for mentioning this.
Feel free to add me on Steam. I might be able to help you out.
I totally agree with you and i'm myself in the same steps, unfortunately the service dispensed by GoG is not yet equivalent of what Steam can offer to us.
By exemple, I played Stronghold Crusader with friends using my GoG version, but now it's impossible because this old game get patch on Steam...not with GoG.
Personally i will never buy again multiplayer (or mods) focused game on GoG anymore.
Otherwise, nothing better than games that you own really.
Like the posters before me said: i pay for a game so i want to own my copy of it. The downside of GOG are the late updates and no workshop.
On the other hand there´s some old games that just won´t run on a modern pc - that´s where GOG provides working ones (e.g. System Shock 2) .
So i buy new games on Steam, old (windows syst.) ones at GOG and Dos-games (like e.g. Mad TV) are mostly abandon ware and work perfectly with DosBox.
