Way to many zombies, even on low.
I'm sorry, but I just can't get into this game, as much as I'd like to.

There are zombies EVERYWHERE. I constantly have a 20 zombie horde on me. There isn't A SINGLE location without any zombies.

On top of that, I have no idea where I am, and can't see more than 20 yards in any direction.

How am I expected to survive when I'm literally CONSTANTLY chased by zombies in a place I know nothing about and can't look around.

It just makes zero sense.

How is this an accurate simulation?

Actually my base is on a farm outside of muldraugh. I don't see a single zombie unless I want to.

There are plenty of places in non urban areas to seek Refuge unless you turned zombie population from urban to spread evenly

I'm sure. I got lost in a forest and starved.

But, it keeps starting me in the same damn residential neighborhood that FULL of zombies. Every. Single. House. Surrounded by at least 4 or 5.

And when I leave the residential, it's forest in every direction and I have no supplies because I was CONSTANTLY chased by zombies in the resedential area.

It seems like a really hard starting area.

An accurate simulation? I'd bet this game would be stupidly easy if they made it an "accurate simulation", it's not an accurate simulation, it's a zombie survival with realism aspects mixed in. If it was accurate, the vast majority of the places would have barely any zombies considering it's a very rural area which removes so much challenge.

When you're new it's very easy to die constantly, learn from your mistakes and you'll get better

What mistakes? Being lost?

Not being able to lose zombies because they're outside EVERY BUILDING?

What am I supposed to learn?

Sense of direction and stealth, foraging in the forest
Kite zombies with stealth, pick them off 1 by 1

Crouch and sneak around, duck behind fences if you find them, you'll probably be able to slip past undetected

Don't roam into forests unless you have supplies and know a way out otherwise you might be done for

You bought a hardcore zombie survival game so you got what you paid for.

What mode are you on?

There is no sneaking by! They're literally everywhere. It's ridiculous.

There is sneaking by, you just aren't experienced at it. I can sneak through most of the towns with sprinters activated, it's possible.

Everyone dies constantly when they first start, if you'd complain rather than try to improve then you won't really get far in the game and maybe it's not for you.

You can lower the zombie count even more and modify many other aspects of the game in sandbox mode.

You can bait small hordes by slow walking into ones line of sight, take it out and repeat

To your issue of getting lost you can use this. https://map.projectzomboid.com

Sneaking does work too, but you have to really take your time. If you are spotted do your best to cut line of sight as quickly as possible and don't ever just run. Seeing as you're new I'd also recommend using the sandbox options and give yourself a starter pack in the options. This will at least get you started with some supplies (including a bat) until you can get the hang of things and figure out where to look for the items you want.

That combat is not always a solution in survival game.

The problem seemed to be the starting area. I started in Riverside and had a MUCH easier time of things. Way less zombies for some reason.
