State of Decay YOSE is very good, and probably a lot cheaper than SoD2.
Zombie Driver HD, cause you use a vehicle to take out the zombies.
March of the Living is a fun little game in the same line as Death Road to Canada.
Then there is How to Survive series, which are games your trying to escape infected islands.
I would also mention 'Dead State' which is fun, but the developers pretty much abandoned the multiple ending types they promised and delivered with just one ending.
Dead Island & Dead Island Riptide for the satisfying melee combat.
State of Decay for no good reason other than it's a fun combination of elements.
7Days to Die for it's randomly generated open worlds.
I don't know what state (pun) is it in as of now, but at release - beside that it felt really dated and more like an expansion to the first game- it was infuriatingly buggy.
I loved the first and was really excited for the 2nd... maybe I will give it another try if it is in a better shape.

I like Scum, the focus is not on the zombies but i guess it deserve mention.
DayZ mod also was a good game in the old days.
Also the old flash games like Rebuild series and The Last Stand series.
My list:
1) PZ (fuggedabboutit)
2) SoD series
3) DL series (Dead Island can go here, but only the original)
4) 7DtD *
5) Organ Trail
*A word of warning about the development of PZ: 7DtD has recently made development decisions to lower gameplay detail granularity as opposed to increase it. Not talking about the video/shaders/texture depth or anything like that, but instead simply:
1) the stuff that you can do, and
2) what stuff with which to do it
I only place this inane little warning so that my beloved PZ does not fall into the same trap.
