Best Zombie Games According to Me
1. Project Zomboid. Best gameplay, atmosphere, etc. The sense of being alone in suburban america is unmatched. I love it.

2. State of Decay 2. Similar to PZ in that you need to focus mostly on scavenging and survival, but this goes for a more action feel along with simulating a community. It's more shallow, but the trade off is that it's faster and more fun for casual play. I've put 20+ hours into it since it dropped on steam, and I love it.

3. Dying Light. Drops all simulation, and goes in on parkour instead. The main quest's writing is garbage, but the sidequests are often funny and it's really satisfying avoiding the hoards, along with the intense horror at night when the tough zombies come out to play.

4. Death Road to Canada. The ultimate in simulating a roadtrip with zombies, with great humor and fun gameplay. It scratches itches that the other games on this list don't.

Runner Ups:

- Resident Evil 2 (will probably become #5 when I put more than half an hour into it)
- Dead Rising
- 7 Days to Die
- Rebuild 3
- Dead Island

Now: am I wrong? am I right? What games am I missing?

I read the title, predicted some games and they appeared here. I wouldn't objectively say you're right or wrong, but hey, we've got something in common.

Dead Island, just because it lets you kick zombies in the butt and send them flying.
State of Decay YOSE is very good, and probably a lot cheaper than SoD2.
Zombie Driver HD, cause you use a vehicle to take out the zombies.
March of the Living is a fun little game in the same line as Death Road to Canada.
Then there is How to Survive series, which are games your trying to escape infected islands.
I would also mention 'Dead State' which is fun, but the developers pretty much abandoned the multiple ending types they promised and delivered with just one ending.

Overall PZ for it's simulation vibe and freedom and the fact that it does what it does WITHOUT silly "special" zombies.

Dead Island & Dead Island Riptide for the satisfying melee combat.

State of Decay for no good reason other than it's a fun combination of elements.

7Days to Die for it's randomly generated open worlds.

I found Organ Trail pretty fun.

State of Decay 2 was a huge disappointment for me.

I don't know what state (pun) is it in as of now, but at release - beside that it felt really dated and more like an expansion to the first game- it was infuriatingly buggy.

I loved the first and was really excited for the 2nd... maybe I will give it another try if it is in a better shape.

That is the one I was trying to think of. It is a funny little retro travel survival game. In the lines of the game 'Oregon Trail'.

Exactly. If you're old enough to have played classic Oregon Trail, then you'll definitely have a good time with Organ Trail. Lol

Good games, love State of Decay, a shame that State of Decay 2 is so bad.
I like Scum, the focus is not on the zombies but i guess it deserve mention.
DayZ mod also was a good game in the old days.

Also the old flash games like Rebuild series and The Last Stand series.

Nice thread here.

My list:

1) PZ (fuggedabboutit)
2) SoD series
3) DL series (Dead Island can go here, but only the original)
4) 7DtD *
5) Organ Trail

*A word of warning about the development of PZ: 7DtD has recently made development decisions to lower gameplay detail granularity as opposed to increase it. Not talking about the video/shaders/texture depth or anything like that, but instead simply:

1) the stuff that you can do, and
2) what stuff with which to do it

I only place this inane little warning so that my beloved PZ does not fall into the same trap.

7 Days to Die USED to be really good. But after so many changes, the developers screwed the pooch on that one. They really have screwed up the game and have made it unenjoyable.

This is a 3 year and 7 month old post. Things have changed since then.
