Barbell, dumbbell are in the game? The wiki is really outdated so I'm not sure.
I'm building a gym so it will be a nice touch to leave them on the ground for decoration.

Honestly, I searched the earth hell and back to get them. I got my luck at the fitness gym building in Louisville, I got two barbells there. I got dumbbells already from storage places

I am pretty sure it is a guarantee to find both barbells and dumbbells in the fitness gym at the faaar northern point of Louisville. Not sure if there are other fitness gyms closer to spawn cities, but as others have said, school lockers and firestations may have them as well

I find a lot of exercise equipment and dumbells in storage lots. Bring a sledge and beat down the garage doors into the bigger rooms.

I've only found a few across multiple games with enhanced loot settings. They are pretty rare.
