Can you fill water bottles with gas?

or can i fill my car directly from the gas pump?

Petrol or gas can only be filled into gas containers, and yes you can fill the car from the pump

how do you fill up at a pump? my car is parked right next to it but i have no prompt telling me i can fill it up

hold down the hotkey to bring up vehicle menu, there should be a gas icon and hovering over it should say "fill car from pump" or something like it. Check key bindings in options if you dont know the hot key

You've got to park your car with the left side next to the pump. Then right clicking on the vehicule should show you the option.
If the power is off, you have to connext a generator first.

not all cars have gas on the same side. pull up to pump, get out, face your car near the pump and hit the V key. if the tank is on that side it will give you the radial, round, menu and one option will be fill from pump. If you dont get this then the tank is on other side. some of the big cars have tank in middle trunk area.

But it only works if you put that sandbox option to allow generator to make it work right ? (just wanna be sure, in case I'm missing something xD)

Yes. But I actually think it is on by default, if I'm not mistaken.
