Fast learner?
Hey guys, Im gonna buy this game in 2 weeks when winter sale comes, I've been watching some videos on youtube and I decided to make my first character with very underweight, weak and unfit and on the other side thick skined, resilient, lucky, organized, dexterus, brave, hiker and I dont know should I take fast learner because I want to have an intended gameplay experience( hard though) and not to have an op trait that fastens my leveling too much. I want to level all the bad perks at the beggining too. What do you guys think of smart learner, is it op or is it a must take or just a little irellivant boost?

Fast learner is 25% more XP for everything you do
It is great....but i wouldnt call it OP

First, it is quite costly, 6 points

Plus, XPing in this game is very slow and on an exponential curve
So, at best, fast learner will make you 1 skill level ahead of someone without
Most of the time, you would be same skill level

Now, i take it very often...

And man, weak and unfit....
This is 2 of the worst negatives traits you could take, especially as a newbie

Resilient isnt really useful at all as it doesnt do anything against zombie infection chance
And being zombified more slowly doesnt change the outcome...you are dead anyway

Very underweight is great...but i wouldnt really advise a newbie to take it
You have to learn the nutrition system first....

There’s no such this as OP in this game. Go for it :)

very underweigh
slow healer
restless sleeper (if playing SP)
high thirst
pacifist
disorganized
conspicuous
weak stomach
hemophobic
slow reader
short sighted
hard of hearing
clumsy
illiterate (if playing MP with a group or find people to trade with or if you dont care about the books xp boost)

all of these are free points
theres a few more like smoker, 4 free points but i find it annoying

oh all of these are negative traits

This except that I don't take fast learner most of the time. But I also don't recommend taking underweight, weak and unfit as a newbie as you will have a real bad time, basically being unable to effectively defend yourself.

best thing as a noob is to not take any traits what so ever. play a couple of deaths to see how things are, then add them 1 at a time to see the effects. Certain youtubers and streamers have a whole page of traits. they also know how to PLAY. high thirst and underweight in a low food area crawling with zeds and you are dead if you dont get what you need. same with tiredness.
When i first started, i began to move just house to house, loot and sleep if i could. didnt go long distance until i knew it was safe. didnt even get a house as a base until after the heli came. survived and then learned the traits. now i have 15 that i always use. good and bad and do pretty well with them. i just know more about where to go and how to get there the fastest.
So learn the game then the traits and you will love this game.
I like the challange guys and I played similar games like kenshi and rimworld, also I first watched a guy start with all the negative traits and it seems more than possible to me, I want to make a charachter that will become better and better from scratch, the story of my charachter is that he was a hobo(hiker) and lost a lot of weight bcs of the lack of food, he became weak and unfit and didnt rly have any luck. Now in the new zombie apocalipse world(apocalypse difficulty) his luck is starting to change. Im first gonna deal with the underweight with eating lots of high calories food( I examened the nutrition sistem) then im gonna run around with a lot of weight on my back and that will make him strong and fit. After that Im gonna pack everything from the first town and hit the road as a strong charachter with a lot of free perks

And the rest is history
Might have to push some trees though too
Ficelle Dec 8, 2019 @ 4:59am
Carry heavy weight and push tress for weeks

In the meanwhile, high calories food and items are just raining from the sky as the weakling is unable to do anything...plus, he has no time for such futilities, he has to train strength and fitness

Zombies, of course, are all looking elsewhere

When the hero is finally ready and in good shape, some monthes later, the apocalypse can really start
A bit too late, the game is already won at this stage

Eheh, sounds like a good plan ,D
Thanks I think I will manage

It takes an age to level strength up. I would rather play than grind stats forever. Start with the highest Strength and Fitness you can and then you can just play instead of pushing trees or whatever other boring dumb stuff you have to do to level your physical stats.

I never take any of those😂
Lol how do you start with high strenght and fittnes, and even if you do the trade and take some rly negative perks it still sucks bcs you cant level strenght and fittnes at all if its on max, you arw not getting better you can just get worse. I like to start from scrath in everything in life at least that way I can only go up

Well, considering its going to take months of in-game time to level either up, it is a natural choice to max something that is the hardest to level up otherwise. If your Str and Fit are maxed, you will have much easier time leveling everything else and surviving long to make it count.

Even if you'd decide to go for Unfit/Weak, you'd still want to take a Occupation that gives you an XP boost to at least recuperate those in reasonable time. Otherwise you're pretty much doomed for a miserable and short playthrough. Personally, if I play a fighter-type character, I take at least Stout, and if I play a stealth-type character, I take at least Fit. I'd rather take Very Overweight over either Very Unfit or Very Weak. This is at least something possible to deal with before the winter.

Well, first, at the moment, you dont even own the game...
...so, all you are saying and imagining is pure theory

Play the game first...then, you will understand how it is to survive as a total cripple who cant fight, cant run, is always exhausted, cant carry anything, cant push back a zombie

Not saying it is impossible, but as a noob starting the game...good luck

Yep, you have seen some Youtubers...fine and all
But Youtubers only show what they want to show

They can play very easy settings / change them offscreen, use backup saves without telling anyone, show only their great, but hide their sux, edit the video....etc

Never trust these people, their job is to generate views...

How do you take strength and fitness at start ?

Given that you can take like 50-60 points worth of negatives, none of them being as crippling as low strength / low fitness, it isnt really hard at all

Heck, even normal strength / fitness at start is somewhat crippling...and you are mostly locked there for the rest of the game....unless you push a tree for 1 or 2 years
