If you have no skill in trapping, that may be why you catch little. But you should be catching something often enough to raise your skill. Reading the appropriate skill book will increase the experience you get when you do catch something, making the skill level faster.
The bird trap and mouse trap are about the only thing you can trap with when you have no skill.
But only took placing traps, driving home, do whatever sleep, get up go check on traps, get little animals, add bait, drive home, and repeat, got well got boring in away, as I was always worried about checking traps, ended up not doing much of anything else.
I mean in if something were to happen like this in rl, I guess that would make sense you need food. But from what I have read and seen on you tube vids, rotten food won't work.
I think my biggest problem was, I caught stuff, but put traps in so remote place so i did not have to worry about getting caught of guard by a zed sneaking threw the trees, it took most of my time going back and forth, it was all I could do.
In short stick traps use worms, other traps use cabbage. Place far enough away from you base, and one day will be enough.
Can not wait till hunting is a thing. Even though I do not hunt in rl.
When will hunting be invented? With the new Update, or after that?
I know I've seen that "75 tiles" guidance somewhere else, but it doesn't seem to make sense. How do you define "your location" and where do you measure those 75 tiles from? I have a base in one of the McCoy Logging buildings. The buildings are big, but the area I'm using inside the building is kinda small. So will traps not work if they are within 75 tiles from *any part* of the building? What if I haven't even started building a base and am still moving all over the map?
I’m not sure if the exact mechanics, so I usually just put any traps far enough away from anything.
