worth buying? depends what you're looking for. Looking for last gen visuals and compelling story mode, no it's not worth. Looking for a zombie apocalypse simulation? To me is the best zombie game around. but it's kinda a sandbox, there's really not a final goal, no missions or storymode, so basically you play it like you want to play it. i suggest to find a good server and play online increase the fun and can provide a totally different gameplay.
As andre.roll told: No story, no boss zeds. This is not State of Decay, nor other games like that.
This game is about pure surviving simulation: collect, build, craft, farm.
After u familiar with basics in vanilla solo play, im recommend u to try Hydrocraft mod, what gives u almost unlimited options to build and craft.
And after u got bored with solo, join an online server. For me Redboid is the best.
- Livin server, with good community, active admins, survive everydays is chalange, but not impossible.
If you search for a Zombie Survival Game, then this beats all of what is available. Sure its looks are basic compared to lets say a game like DayZ, but if you can live with isometric angles and all that, then PZ easily surpasses every other game in the theme with its options and simulation.
What that means is, PZ has so many ways to have you play your Zombie Apocalypse that you can basically either get inspired by classic movies/series of that kind (28 days later with running zombies or The Walking Dead with slower ones).
And by immense detail. You can set all starting conditions, including whether there is still power and water available and at which point there shouldnt be anymore, at which state the apocalypse is etc.
It further features a believable setting. Zombies are not finite but also dont simply spawn around the corner, they migrate from the map edge, and their migration is even influenced by certain factors.
The survival itself is more RPG-ish, as you dont have all the skills already present to build all the stuff. Instead you have to find books to learn new skills. And that works fine.
In character creation you can basically do everything you want in a believable manner. Not only do you have positive perks at hand to choose from, but you also can choose negative traits to get more points and choose further positive ones.
You basically can create yourself in the game. No matter whether you are a less sporty and shortsighted person, or a person with incredible endurance or an iron stomach, a superb immune system or being sick by the slightest drop of water. There are even psychological "issues" to be chosen if you want so, like getting scared by open places, darkness or whatever.
To make it short:
- PZ has a basic look mostly without looking ♥♥♥♥♥, if you dig isometric games.
- Its simulation is the deepest on the market and offers absolute authenticity for a Zombie Apocalypse.
- Its perfect for roleplaying and allows you to set up a game that involves all the framework of other zombie stories, if you ever wanted to play a game that is set in the world of The Walking Dead, this is it.
- It can be played in Multiplayer, against each other, cooperative or a mix of that. On open servers or a private one.
- It has not only one preset type of zombie, but allows players to decide the abilities of zombies, (not meaning that you encounter special zombietypes similar to games like L4D).
- Zombies are an actual threat
- Its an authentic game, meaning that its less about "lolz" and making dumb fun crap, but rather really trying to survive in an authentic game. Hunger and thirst have an actual meaning here, and eating chips you find all the time wont help you that much.
- its actively being developed, although incredibly slow. The biggest thing yet to come are NPCs. When they achieved that, then the game is the perfect zombie survival.
I have forsaken everything because of this game. Friends, family, house plants, pets.
Everything.
My only regret is not having purchased it sooner.
But we have guys from Asia (also from America), they dont experience lag, while some EU players do. Imo its not depend only on your irl location, but sure it can affect.
Imo u loose nothin if u try to join to Redboid. :P
Just try the demo it's mostly up to date.
The Devs are so but they are still working hard on the game.
Achievements will be one of the last features that will be added, you will have to wait at least one year when not even 2 years.
The devs are laughing all the way to the bank. They made up some bullsht excuse about having their laptop stolen with game data and got away with it.
That incident was in 2011.
There were maybe 2 months of progress lost back then, so it's barely made an impact in the long term. Not sure how that somehow developed into a grand scam let a lone a failed game.
I understand the notion of feeling robbed and I'm confident we will present you with the best game we can make once we're out of Early Access. I've been burned on the likes of Godus, The Stomping Land, or Spacebase DF-9 and we've seen plenty more games come and go over the years. We took good care that we wouldn't run into similar issues by being conservative with the money we spend.
We continue to work on the game and keep pushing updates. Development has been pretty slow and I understand people who are frustrated about the long wait, but The game you have now is pretty much a different game compared to what it was in 2011.
We're not really laughing all the way to the bank either, considering we barely ever advertize the video apart from being in Steam sales, where we never offer the game for less than what people paid who supported us in the very early days, even though we would very likely make more money by offering heavier discounts.
Development has been super slow, indeed, but that doesn't translate to a fraud.
Well at least you could have tried harder.
