Heater in a house?
I know that Antique Oven is a good heater but it's pretty rare and difficult to get especially on old public server.

Is there another option?

I'm pretty sure there is a risk of fire and fire spread with a Campfire.

I think BBQs contaminate the air, like running a generator inside. But I had a hard time finding recent info about this.

From what I've read (most recent forum discussions and an out-dated wiki), the Antique Oven or a Fireplace are the two safest and easiest ways to heat.

But like OP mentioned, Antique Ovens are rare and on an older server it wouldn't be ridiculous to think that they've all been looted. And unfortunately, most every Antique Oven is in an out-of-the-way location (i.e. cabins in the woods). So it would be a time-consuming gamble.

Fireplaces cannot be moved so you would have to relocate to a house that has one.

But I'm still fairly new to the game and have not made it to winter yet. I'm also curious about this and would love to see people's advice/tips/info for how they deal with the colder temps.

There are two antique ovens in West Point that I know of. One in down town, and one up and left in the cabin by the lake. They really are the best to use.
A campfire can be used indoors, and if I remember right and things have not changed, you need an opening in the ceiling above the fire, and you need sand or something unburnable in the 4 squares around the fire so it does not burn the house down.

Sure... its obv u need to place some dirt tiles under your campfire if fire spread is on. Dont set it up on wooden floor :D

You have to watch the roof also, fire on the floor in this game can reach up and set a roof on fire.So you need to make a chimney like area right above the square the fire is on.

Oooo... its looks like i didnt played solo for too long. Im already forgot these important things, since im play only multi with no fire spread. :D

Yes, I said you need an open space above the fire. And each tile 'around' your fire needs dirt or sand placed. Fire will spread to a wood floor that is next to a fire.
