So it seems this only happens when you directly use the backpack to drop them. This still seems strange.
(And also still does not resolve the cigarettes hidden weight.)
Whole point of this game is realism, after all. Though it's also true I only got the game recently and didn't know what it was like before changes like this happened, so *shrug*
yeah and smokes are in packs or cartons and easy to drop 20 or hundreds in moments
oh ever i would like the issue of breaking smoke to be added depending on what you are doing
like with you 40 smokes or two packs and then exceed your weight by more than 20% you smash 10% of your smokes making them trash
Actually no. The issue here is the weight for ciggies is hidden. Scroll over your cigarettes it will show 0.0 pounds. Whereas 500 cigarettes actually if you start to remove them will reduce your bags/persons carry capacity by 500. Aka 1 ciggie has an actualy weight of 0.01. Which is fine. BUT IT DOES NOT SHOW ON THE UI!
I also smoke IRL, it does not make sense that it takes 5(!) hours to get out the ciggies. Even 500+.
A true smoker either carries them in a box, or in cartons, or he has a separate usually metal ciragette box(usually for hand rolled cigarettes). These metal ones can hold from 38-60 cigarettes. Depending on the box. Also if you make rolled cigarettes, or you know cigarettes may be hard to come by as a smoker, you will make sure you do put them all together. For easier access, and to not lose them.
And yes as noctoskanan has mentioned even a carton(aka 10 boxes) does not weigh a kilogram.
I have the Dexterity trait, no injuries or negative moodles (other than occasional stress/sadness due to Hemophobic) and things require a LOT of time to pick up/place.
- snip due to self-idiocy -
I love how realistic this game is, and it's the main reason I play it. But with all the chores that exist in this game, I'm not trying to have it turn into a "Bring the groceries in and put them away' simulator on top of all the other stuff we have to manage now (laundry, cooking, personal hygiene, lawn care, weather-appropriate attire, etc). I would much rather have a streamlined inventory system than a "delicately pick and place one item at a time" system. I mean come on, why on Earth is my bloke taking nails and smokes out of his backpack one at a time? Can you imagine how silly someone would look if they did that in real life?
"Alright! One... Two... Three... Four... Five... Six... Seven... Eight... Nine... Ten...! Okay. Eleven... Twelve... Thirteen... Fourteen... Fifteen... Sixteeeeeen..."
You get my point. Someone who handles smokes/nails like that deserves to be slapped. :^)
I understood what you meant. But i think you misunderstand what i mean. I know the weight system and how it works. However it is only with cigarettes where the UI does not show the actual weight value of the item. Compare cigarettes and nails. They have the same 0.01 weight. (unless you pack it it in a box) But for nails it shows. For ciggies it does not. That is my main issue.
Wait - this isn't how it works anymore? ♥♥♥♥♥♥ uninstalled. The inventory system was always kinda a mess, but I use to get around that by doing exactly this. If I was building a wall I would cut and carry all the wood so that it was roughly where it needed to be and then build it using the materials on the ground, with just the hammer and nails in my actual inventory. Same thing for a lot of the created stuff, for example: medical supplies. I would put all my medical stuff in once cabinet and then stand in front of it and do the creating there, pulling what was needed from the cabinet automatically. Same for food - stand next to both a fridge and cabinet with food and cooking equipment and then using the right click menu to see what was avaiable for certain creations.
If I have to actually pick up everything and hold it in my pockets to be able to use it, I think thats me basically done with this game. It was already fiddly as hell - a lot of my deaths had nothing to do with combat, but simply being buggered over by the inventory system in one way or another - eg: bleeding to death from a bad, but not fatal wound because I couldn't START the process fast enough ( so not dying WHILE bandaging, but dying while clicking thought menus to get to the point where I could start bandaging), or dying because I had to loop back over the same bit of ground 5-10 times in a risky situation to pick up something (again not dying WHILE picking it up, but dying while trying to get the menu option to pick it up to appear). If they have gone and made this worse, thats finally a step to far in the fiddly direction for me.
