That being said I highly recommend making a backup of your world's folder in case something happens. In my case, I've lost power to my computer and the save file became corrupted. That was it, the game was over- I lost all everything (and dozens upon dozens of hours) due to something out of my control. Another reason is that a game update can cause an issue. I experienced this in the IWBUMS branch a few months ago, After that branch was updated the entire screen was black and I could not see my character. Luckily I made a backup of that world and was able to troubleshoot the issue (with some help on the TIS) forums. We were also able to create a workaround so I could continue playing that world.
Other reason to backup your character would be to test something out. Some information cannot be found online. If for example you want to know what you can do with high levels skills. How can you find out if you keep dying over and over again? I think this also limits how many bugs the playerbase can find as opposed to the testers who have tools to create such scenarios.
I'm for saving player progress but the TIS team has adamantly said that they will never implement some of backup/restore system.
People enjoy different things, and that's fine. Calling someone pathetic because their view differs from yours is not. Play nice.
In the server options there is a setting called "PlayerRespawnWithSelf"
If you turn it on you will be able to respawn on your place of death and continue playing on the world after death.
The only downside is that it might cause slight lag to the game since you are hosting, otherwise there should be no problems.
You could try using the -nosteam start parameter to see if it would lower the lag.
Hope this helps!
In my last comment I told you that it is a game to learn not to make the wrong decisions and that you have to enjoy surviving day by day.... I'm going to tell you how not to die in any situation , but if you do that you will destroy completely the gampelay and the fun from the game and you will never learn to play well, but it's up to you, however I tell you and you decide whether to use it or not.
What you must do to never die is to install NecroForge mod, this mod allows you to do many things as spaw items, build freely, etc.. (you can watch videos on youtube) This mod also allows you to heal any injury or disease of the game. What you should do is subscribe to the mod but not activate it in the game yet.... play the game in a normal way and if your character is bitten, you fall off a building or you bleed out for any reason, all you have to do is go to the main menu of the game, activate the mod, go back to the game and use the "Reset Health" option this will cure you of everything that happens to you, reset your health to as it is at the beginning of the game, your character will be completely healthy. This can be done for any situation in the game, allowing you to live infinitely and never die no matter what happens because it also removes the zombification...
What I said, if you never want to die, that's the best option... the bad part is that you completely destroy the fun and learning of the game. It's up to you, I'd tell you never to use it because you can get used to always surviving like this, but I guess you won't listen to me.
PS: Not sure tho, I only play this game with mods, so It could be a feature of a mod. If you would check it out for me if it isnt possible without those mods, I can tell you the mod list
There always has to be some jerk. I specifically said "First thing, if you are not going to be helpful, please don't post. If my question bothers you, please don't bother being rude about it."
Yet, here you are.
Really the best course of action would have been probably to not mention it, and not acknowledge them when they do show up, not getting any attention is what hurts them the most. Also reporting, which only the mods and you will know you did.
