How do generators work exactly?
From what I can tell, once the power goes out, you can hook a generator up to 1 building and use it to power the electricity in that building as long as their is fuel in the generator.

Is that all there is to it? 1 building powered by 1 generator? Does the size of the building/number of appliances powered affect how quickly the generator burns fuel? If the building is massive (shopping mall, for example), is the entire thing powered by a single generator to the same affect that a small house would be?

I ask because I'm trying to build a base in the GIGA Mart in West Point (loads of refridgerators and storage), but I wasn't sure if it would be an effective plan to try to pull off using generators.

I think it runs on a radius if im not mistaken. In a previous build we were able to power 4 seperate small player made buildings with one generator. No limit to power usage as far as i can tell. Fuel consumption is based on a setting not actual power use or load on the generator . In a sandbox or on a server you can adjust the fuel consumption.

I think one generator should be enough to power most of the gigamart if not all of it. Just dont put it inside.

So if generators power whatever they are connected to in a radius, and the gigamart is larger than that radius... what if I put the generator on the roof near the center? Can you connect generators to buildings from their roofs?

Also, don't put one inside, you'll get co2 poisoning and die.

Yep, I know not to do that. Can I put it on the roof, and have it work though?

It should work on the roof
