I recommend this guide.
You could set up a dedicated server and connect to it through the local host.
Other then that I haven't seen a LAN option here.
You have to start both the client and the server with the -nosteam option. Then putting the LAN IP in the server join menu works.
Right click on Project Zomboid in your Library.
Click on Properties then Set Launch Options.
Type in -nosteam.
That's it!
If you are running a dedicated server hover over Library and then click Tools from the drop down.
Right click on Project Zomboid Dedicated Server.
Click on Properties then Set Launch Options.
Type in -nosteam.
Hope this helps!
Here's some keywords to help get people here.
Project Zomboid LAN setup.
How to connect Project Zomboid through LAN?
I will have to try this tomorrow.
If I type 'ipconfig' in a cmd.exe, would it be the IPv4 address?
I did not see that in the tutorial above. And using the bat file does not give options to change settings. So there must be something else I am missing?
And there are ini and lua files you can muck around with.
How do you know which port the one who connects needs to use ?
Once again, sorry if this seems condesending or anything, its just that it might help you in the future if people either don't understand what you want or you are posting in a place where technical terms would help (like on reddit or an official forum).
Also, hello from a fellow Missourian :D
Edit: Also you decided I was the one to respond to after giving solid advice when this isn't even the first time it was done, it was also necroed in 2022.
Don't take it so seriously.
