Zombies Spawning INSIDE my base
Hi everyone, i am new to the game, and i have started a game with "The First Week" with "Normal" mode in "Muldraugh".

I have checked my mod folder, there is no mod installed.

------------------------------------------------------
Here is the little story:
My spawn point is my house (it's always a house no?) , and i have decided to fortify it for a first temporary base.
I have only 3 windows (all barricaded with the max amount of boards outside with curtains inside) and 1 door (closed, and we can't see through it).
Some parts of the wall have cracks.

[Edit] Here are 2 screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/n7tlTI5

So i went back to my little base, and when i opened the door a zombie was inside! Now i'm completly paranoid, this place is very little, how is it possible? There is no hole, and i think i don't need a pole on the corners because it's a basic house!
------------------------------------------------------

So is it because i'm in a prefab that zombies are spawning in there?
Or is it the fact that walls are cracked?
Or something else? I don't really understand it, i'm very paranoid now!
I know sooner or later zombies can spawn outside near your walls, but they are not supposed to spawn IN your base!

Thanks for reading and helping me getting rid of it!

Almost certainly a bug. Best thing you can do is repeat the steps on a new save and see if it happens again - if it does, write down what you did and post it as a bug.

Maybe he was inside the closet all the time and went out while you were scavenging:steamhappy:

Interesting. It most likely is a bug. I've never actually noticed this myself, but I usually get walls up around my chosen house as quickly as possible and this does seem to stop zombies spawning inside. Maybe for some reason it isn't recognizing your barricades and such while you are away from your base. It might be worth putting in a bug report about it.

It did not hapened again, and now i'm building a base from scratch. But i'm using this first shelter from time to time and if i see a zombie for the 2nd time, i'll report it.

Took a look at your pics and it looks like you barricaded the windows only on the outside.
Just wondering why you didn´t barricade them on the inside, too?

Yes only the outside, that's from where zombies are coming, they are not supposed to come from the inside where it's clean.
I don't think they can spawn, and if someone know how the spawning system is working... I heard they are coming from the border of the map, but i'm not sure.

Jake means you should be barricading BOTH sides of your windows, it gives you twice the number of barricades so it takes the zombies almost twice as long to break through, so zombies trying to break IN have to break both the inside AND outside barricades before they can get in.

Yes i see, but it wasn't broken when the zombie spawned inside and i was unable to enter any window, so i don't know why it hapened.

And i think i can sleep safely without double (just a simple) barricades and an simple door closed before being alerted by the zombies trying to break in.
MikefromJake Jul 24, 2018 @ 8:43am
Btw.: doors can be barricaded doublesided, too.
Triangular Brick Jul 24, 2018 @ 8:46am
I know we can barricade it yes, but i'm just using minimal resources to build a huge base at the river. But thanks for the tip anyway! ^^

So as long as zombies can't go in the house without breaking anything, that's good enough for me.

The problem occurs sometimes when a new version of the game is downloaded, too.
Guess it´s a bug. Not sure if the problem has been fixed that Zs spawn inseide your base if it´s too big - this was the case in my first game where i had a huge base with 3 perimeters.

Did the helicopter already appear in your game?
Be careful about the random events, too, e.g. shots fired. This will make Zs go nuts and start moving towards the source of the sound and they´re destroying what gets in their way. Had log walls been torn down that way.

I started a new game maybe one week ago, so i don't think it's a compability issue. Maybe just a bug, and i hope it's very rare. Rare or not, i'm very paranoid now.
I'm unable to find how the zombie spawns are working (If it's barricaded, if they come from the limits of the map, etc...)

The helicopter came very early in the game (horrible experience for a noob) and i had to clean all the Zeds coming toward my base. I was exactly where the zombie spawned later when the event occured, so it's not the helicopter.

I remember reading in the forum that:
- a new game version can kind of reset the "unaccessable for Zs" status of your house. Experienced this when the vehicle version got aviable: walking into the bathroom of my entirely walled off and barricaded house there was a Z waiting for me. Almost got a heart attack :)

- a too big base may not be recognized as a "closed to the outside" area by the game, thats why Zs where inside my base.

Haha i know that feeling!
Good to know, i'm starting a big base so i hope i won't have any problem. But it's entirely built by me so i hope it won't spawn in a closed area made by the player.

So i think it's just a bug then, thanks!
