Open locked cars

Hi all. So how does this work ?
They are all locked in my game. I searched in the near houses, killed many Z´s (they had some but not the right keys) and also tried V and E. Cant destrory Glas. So i tried alot ^^

There is no way to get into them without keys right now. If a car is locked and you don't have the keys, there's literally nothing you can do.

You can break the window with a weapon and then get in.
Once in, you can hotwire the car via the V menu, if you have the required skills:

If a car is locked equip a hammer or anything that works as a weapon, right click the door of the car and select "Car mechanics" (i think that's what it says).

Once the menu pops up showing all the car parts click on the window and select "Smash window".

You can just flat out hit the door

Ah. Sometimes takes a couple its.

This must have been a bug. A startet a new character/game, now its no problem. Find many open cars, can throw windows and search inside for the key.... so everything works now, weis.
My last save was also a new game for the new build.
But thanks for all the answers and help !

I also have been able to remove them with the mechanic skill by having a screwdriver on hand.

I don't remember if it takes a specific level of mechanic or not, but you can remove the window, unlock/open the door and then replace the window.

Right Click the Car
Click Vehicle Mechanics
Find the left driver door window or whatever its called in game
Right click that, smash it
Exit it, you can now enter the vehicle.

Well it doesn't really require to have a specific level of mechanic skill to do that, but there's a recommended level of skill with which you're pretty much guaranteed to uninstall the part without any hitches.

Yeah but it's already a -6 starting points... You'd better increase your character skills during the game in order to be able to hotwire cars.

a lot of cars keep their key in the glove box. While you're in the car open the item menu and their should be loot areas for each seat and the glove box. similar to how you check for items in the trunk. Took me forever to realize I could do this.
