Project Zomboid

Guys, how do you usually keep your weight?
I used to play on redboid a lot and changing weight was really hard.
Now tho in sp iwbums it is very easy to jump off the limit above or below.

What is your tactic to keep your weight at bay?
Any kind of special food you eat to maintain that weight?
I just got overweight from very underweight under 1 month.

I worry more about losing weight in the long run, especially with the eventual run out of high fat processed foods in the world. If you're looking to lose weight, just live off the land. Eating foraged berries, bugs, and bird meat is a hell of a diet, not to mention I usually combine it with intermittent fasting at first (I always start with an overweight or obese character for extra trait points, so I try to lose it quick.)

I worry cause it almost works too good, like if I could manage to keep a character alive longer than a few months on that diet of stuff I find in the woods, it'll be hard to keep em from getting underweight

Keep trapping or fishing for meat to increase weight as they are generally higher in calories. Keep farming and foraging for fruits and vegetables to lower your weight as they are low in calories. Balance between to keep it steady.

With playing mainly very underweight...

Mostly chips / ice cream / cookies / sodas / peanut butter / high calories cooked food with honey or butter...up to around 78...then full stop

Only vegetables, on the verge of starvation
Weight will still usually raises up to 79-80 where i want it to stabilize

Then, i eat only low calorie food (mostly pure vegan)
If before going to bed, i see the arrow down, i eat chips or the like until the arrow disappears
If arrow is up... not a lot to do, starvation next day (very rarely because low calories food is main food)

I avoid hearty apetite trait as it needs 50% more food a day, which is also 50% more calories intake..
Playable, but a pain to stabilize weight without going over

My Char always loses weight because i forget to eat and only eat something when the red Moodle pops up. and even then i forget it sometimes. a direct impact like stomach grouling sounds or Player holding his Stomach and moving slower and slightly bend would help me remeber to eat. xD

Rabbit's are the way! Birds, frogs and fish can get the job done too (in that order, from most to least effective), but using cabbages, carrots and potatos to line your roasts/stir frys/stews/etc. with rabbit meat caught with carrots or cabbages is renewable anad just right for maintaining weight.

Then use berries to push off hunger through the day, eating a hearty meal once or twice a day, usually giving me 90-100 hunger reduction each.

Forage and now fish constantly. Chop plenty of wood. Only eat one ♥♥♥♥♥♥ calorie-laden thing every few days.

Fish and hard work (while only living off fish), or chop so much wood and live off berries will take that weight right off.

Fishing gives too little calories to be worth the time in comparison to trapping though.

You can still just eat a tiny amount of more dense meat!

Trap birds for sustainable weight gain. Eat forest berries and mushrooms for weight loss diet.

If you are wanting to gain weight, you should just eat a lot of uncooked ingredients and not worry about cooking a lot. If you want to lose weight, you should only eat cooked food because they reduce the most hunger for the least amount of calories.

All you need to do is farm and keep the above mentionend in mind.

Last but not least I would not try to maintain a certain amount of kg, rather try to float within the range of what is considered normal since you dont need to concentrate then on what you eat, but rather how you eat.

Read this thread if you want to know more how nutrition system works:

In a nutshell: eat vegetables to lose weight, eat packaged food you find around in buildings to gain weight.

Cabbage has the most calories among veggies, you can't eat very much without gaining weight tho,
but you could eat radish all day everyday as much as you can stuff in, and still losing weight.
