Can we unload firearms? Ca we upgrade them?

I had that basic pistol, fully loaded. Then I found another pistol, apparently better.
I tried to find a way to unload my old pistol before throwing it away, in order to save precious ammo, but I couldn't find how to do that.
Then, as I couldn't recover the ammo friom my old pistol, I thought of taking the upgrades from the new one to put it on the old one. I couldn't find how to do that.

Is there anyway to do one of those two actions? If yes, how and does it need some requirement (some skill level)? I saw a post from 2014 saying we can't unload firearms, but maybe, since then...?

To unload a firearm a pistol in your case you need to set your reloading difficulty to hardcore it really isn't and rack up your firearm with an X button repeatedly, if you have default key bindings. That way you'll unload your pistol's magazine round by round. To take away an upgrade from a gun you must find a screwdriver.
Pro tip: setting reloading to hardcore can help with levelling reloading skill pretty quickly. Just press and hold the reload button with a pistol in hand and you'll eject & insert the magazine repeatedly. This action increases the reloading EXP.

Oh, ok. I'm pretty new on that game, I was just starting to play in normal mode. So... hardcore mode is not that hardcore? Well, I'll try that, thank you! :)

Remember, not the hardcore difficulty when you start the game. The hardcore difficulty i meant is located in the options menu, under the reloading tab

Check the ORGM mod from the workshop, its great for guns.
