also, i noticed there is an online map but i cant figure out which one of those there is my save's map how do i tell?
when you selected your spawn area, you choose in between a section of some cities or just areas of a city, if you don't know what you chose we can still find you,but it won't be to easy, here are a few ways you could find yourself.

tell me, what have you come across that is distinctive on your map?things like a prison complex, a big farm, a big storage house near an avenue, a big lake east of the map, things like that, I may be able to tell where you are.

however if you want to try the luck finding your own position you could acess the zomboid map, and try to triangulate your position on the map through areas you recognize.

even better, if you come across a compass, you can open it, and see your current coordinates, then you can go to the zomboid map site, and type your coordinates there, the map will tell you where you are.

here is the map:

if you want to, you can use cheats to teleport yourself to a landmark, and from there follow the map, or maybe you could even give yourself a compass, i am not totally sure, since I never used cheats.

If you use AIZ enhanced map pack 2, the creator has created a sweet in game map that can be found and used.

alright i have the gps mod and now can locate myself, but this map seems too big when i check my server settings it says i only use muldraugh, KY Modtemplateworld1 and Modtemplateworld2
whats up with that? and also is this stock game map any good if not do you have any maps that we can use with perhaps more exciting buildings areas?

All of the base game towns are on one large world map, IE you can walk from Muldraugh to Westpoint or to Riverside etc. Google project zomboid map project and get that map open, its kind of reminiscent of the old Minecraft dynamic maps in the sense that you can zoom in and get clear details of the landscape.

Like mentioned above, find a landmark, the rest should be pie.

if you want to change your map to something more exciting you can use this mod:

the mod is a compilation of all mod and vanilla maps togheter, you will have plenty to explore.since you are looking for "interesting buildings", i would recommend for you to go to Phoenix, it has great design.
