This game is really sad.
This game and it's music makes me feel many various emotions but honestly it's morel ike a sad tragedy than a horror game.

This is so sad, I'm gonna replace "What was lost" with Despacito so I don't feel so sad.

In all seriousness, I can't help but think of how sad my characters must be after surviving for a while, unhappiness doesn't increase as fast as I personally think it should

I wonder if/how that'll change with NPCs. Whether the player witnessing deaths or losing close friends will lead to long term depression.

I'd love for depression and anxiety to have stronger and more long-term effects on the player's psyche. Some sanity system would make depression more pressing, although slow action speeds is pretty penalizing already. Just something to make the storytelling of your character's life more dramatic.

When I play this game real life sadness increases dramatically. How do I fix?

Just like the simulations!

Imafishbish, I reckon you've got it. This isn't some straightforward horror, this is far creepier and more tragic (hence all the suicide via bleach corpses). To adjust my feelings I have some good music playing. Something lively, or fun. It helps me play better, however, just today something went a bit weird.

I had secured a street with some posh houses and good fences. Blocked off the street with cars. Cleared out the houses. Moved the bodies to the street. Rested. Emerged. Then all was quiet. My music stopped, and my character was just standing there in this street with some corpses, and not a sound. He will be alone here. Safe, but alone, as the rest of the world dies off. Beyond the barricades of cars are plenty of dead :re2zombie: waiting to finish him off if he gives them the slightest chance. Pretty tragic I say...

Tomorrow, farming! :mhwgood:

Once they add NPCs they should still have a last man on earth option.

Just feeling this today.

Have a new playthrough going, all has been pretty well. Sticking to the outskirts of West Point in a big ol' house. A good amount of fresh food I'm picking at since I raided the food market on the first day.

The atmosphere has been thick recently, as I've boarded up my windows and haven't been needing to do much, but my poor gal woke up to a misty morning from a nightmare that quaked her from sleep.

I like to imagine that she is deprived of any safety net, not used to having to deal with the pure fact that the nightmare she was shaken so abruptly by pales in comparison to the one she woke up to, yet again.

That really puts the emotion into perspective - the thought of being so close to death, that you are the sole guard between losing your life and keeping it. Quite scary to think about.

When you're feeling good about finding the keys to a vehicle, then you find a toy car in the back seat. :-(
Its bloody disturbing opening the trunk of a car to find a corpse. Finding dog chew toys make me sad too. I like to think of it as your character is trapped in their own version of hell or something. All thats left is zombies no other humans.

It is. And the question comes up, that why in the hell should I play a game that makes you depressed, sad and lonely.

I dont know, the sadness in all is rather comforting. You make the best of what you have, surviving in solitude and still clinging on even after all else has crumbled around you. You survive out of sheer spite, if nothing else, waiting for a better tomorrow that may never come. Such is your lot, struggle, survive, scavenge through the corpse of the old world and make it your home. I find it comforting.

There are many immersive games out there, on my steam library the saddest is "This war of mine", it was very struggling. I was attracted by project zomboid I thought it was a kind of free roam fun but damn.. It's not... It's all a "what should I do now"? Where is better to sleep, let's stay down, will the door resist if something happen? Should I stay on the 1st floor or the ground? Then finally the morning come and you go out, with so much calm and attention, constantly watching your back. You try to sneak in cars, cars has no keys and or no fuel, sneak in houses and hear someone hitting a door... Man...

It's so good in my opinion that you can adjust zombies skills and respawns. I've made a 2nd run now with no respanws and only slow zombies. I expect my 1st Helicopter event or gunshots hearing, I don't know what gonna happen. I have found a map in a car accident and I went to that house on the map... Oh what a sad feeling.
Plus, you know you're gonna die here, don't know when or how, but it's gonna happen.

It's only a videogame. Yeah. Sure.

P.S.
We need a mod that block the boredom. I'm not sure you'll get bored in a zombie apocalypse. Ok the sadness and everything else, but not the boredom.
