Limit to repairing weapons?
Just wondering if there's a limit on how many times you can repair a weapon, or can you keep repairing them indefinitely as long as you have the materials?

yes you can but the fall off for materials makes it really bad to continue doing it. say you have a hand axe 50% repair and you have 4 rolls of duct tape and 3 bottles of glue. Also i think the mainanience skill comes into play but not really sure.
You have a percentage chance to repair a certain percentage first time. as you go they percentage repaired begins to go down. If i decide to take or find duct tape as my hand axe degrades i can keep it going but it starts to get less repaired.
I try and do it this way. I make a hunting knife spear, it begins around 40% so i repair it to max.
Same thing with a monkey wrench on a bat.

I never understood why that mechanic exists. Why does continuing to repair a weapon make it increasingly more difficult to do so until you end up wasting so many resources just to repair a single percentage?

I knew a man who had an over 200 year old gun that thanks to maintenance still works like a charm (With a few parts needing to be replaced due to lack of original parts)

My point is a well maintained gun (Or other weapon) will last for decades. I'm not asking for an indestructable weapon, I just don't want that gradually lowering percentage based repair mechanic in the game.

Agreed. After all the materials needed for repairing the weapons are already scarce, so if we're willing to use them to repair or "maintain" our favourite weapon, let us do so.
