Do not quit the game during the helicopter event.
I was playing today for about 5 straight hours. I thought to myself, "going to pt the character to sleep, as soon as he wakes up, I'll quit.". Then he woke to the sounds of a helicopter. I was to tired and couldn't bother with doing the event right there and then so I quit, thinking that once I logged back in, the helicopter event would continue (much like rain and fog continues once you come back to your save). Alas, no helicopter. I lost the most tense part of the early game, and honestly, it feels like I cheated myself.

So don't do it.

Yep, it does stop the helicopter event. I've used it to end the event when it bugged out on me what seemed like every time. Haven't tried it in a awhile though. I should probably turn it on again at some point and try again. I just hate that it always kept coming back for me. I'd lose it and 2 seconds later it's coming back again. I had to remain on the move for almost 2 full in game days on multiple occasions.

You can probably reenable it...if you want
It works fine in b41

Granted, i cheese it with car and ciao bye for the day ;D
It goes away when night comes, sometimes even sooner
Never had it the day after

Helicopter event is available in solo ?

Can someone explain what that event is ?

After a few days (usually around day 5-7) an helicopter will come and follow you, attracting massive amount of zombies
It happens once a game by default

As soon as you hear it, drop anything you are doing, and run / drive far away from your base in the countryside (try to keep some excess water / food on you until the event has triggered)
If you stay in your base, you will likely be overan

Move away if it is still following you
Stay away for the day
It will leave in the evening
Best is to sleep in your car to be fresh for the next day to clean the leftover around your base

Basically a event that is made to screw you over if you make a decent base too early

Nice. I'll have to try it again.

I know this is as old thread, but just wanted to drop by and say as a noob character I've made it to the event.
I'm playing as Pam Norwood right now hiding in a farmhouse bathroom. There are idk how many zombies outside. This is my longest run. Thank you all for the fine tips and pray for Pam.

The radio will tell you when the helicopter is coming. Just don't leave your house at all that day. I've never been swarmed. Just have some food and books handy.

Lol, i'm so noob i didn't realize what the helicopter signifies, spent the whole night sleeping as it flew around me starting 9pm, only to wake up to tonnes of zombies around the house, not sure how they didn't make it inside my hut i was sleeping in, it had no window glass or boards, just rags to hide the light, lmao.

first few days are cheeky, u can spend them staying at home watching live and living for exp, but u will also need to get enough food for that

This should already be fixed in the internal b42 build FYI.
