Recommended survival.
So, I picked recommended survival as my starting mode... I took obese trait but it made be wonder, is losing&gaining weight is enabled in that mode? Or should I go with custom game?

Edit: I do have a arrow pointing downward next to the weight, so is it working? It is just slow?

Yes, weight is a game mechanic that exists in survival mode. I'd recommend not taking obese, though if you're going to play single player. Take the underweight perk instead. You can just eat a lot of food to gain weight until you're healthy but it takes forever to lose weight.

Ahh alright, good to know. I figured Ill just use the obese trait to gain some point free points but I guess Ill just scratch that.

Oh, it's still good to get free points with some perks. I pretty much always take smoker and anorexic because cigarettes improve your mood and have no real negative effects, and food is everywhere so you should have no problems getting rid of the anorexic negatives. Overweight works too but being overweight makes you bad at sprinting and takes forever starving yourself to get rid of.

Yeah, gaining and losing weight work

As other posters, I strongly suggest (very) underweight over the overwright / obese path
Just over eat as much as possible with some emphasis on junk food and sodas

Very underweight is easily fixed in like 15-20 days while having very little downsides compared to the overweight path

Survival is the intended difficulty, but quite hard if you are new
For new players, 1 week later is much easier
Most people play sandbox as you can adjust everything
