Can't build wall in place of window & wall combo in my building

I want to remove a window and the wall containing it in my base (with a sledgehammer) and replace it with a wall with no window. I can do this on the building next door, but not on my own. Also, I have all the required materials in main inventory. It won't let me place the wall in the same spot once cleared. It will let me place it on the tile behind or in front of the old window/wall, but not that exact spot.

Why would it work on the building next door, but not the one I am in?

Also, even with the wall fully cleared via sledgehammer, there appears to still be a window there as I have to climb through "nothing". Could this be related? It is Bedford Falls map.

A screenshot could help rule out a few things.

As for troubleshooting, I'd start by trying to pick-up (through the moving furniture menu) that invisible window. You'll need a crowbar. Alternatively, I'd try to target where the window is with the sledgehammer and cycle with "R" to make sure there is no vestige that remains.

Hey J's, thanks for the ideas. I created a couple screenshots but can't post them as I'm getting "verifying login info" continuously via the steam client. I'm using a browser now and can't seem to access them.

For now, I've been using cars to block the openings, but would like to clean that up and do it properly...It seems to be related to whatever that thing is left that I have to climb over (that I can't remove)?

I have to say that this is the first time I saw something like this. Seems like a weird and rare bug, not sure how that happened.
The first thing to come to mind in trying to remove it is getting a mod like Cheat Menu or Necroforge and use the tools there to delete everything on that tile, which could include the weird wall.
