It seems like you have to make sure that you did not visit the area before adding the map. Since the chunks will be loaded into the save and the mod wont replace them. If you did that, you can delete the chunks as mentioned in that reddit thread. Though be very careful when manipulating saves if doing that, always back it up somewhere safe.
The numbers in the post should match as the saves have not changed for a long time.
1. You apply map mods to your existing save.
2. You create a new game (let's call it MAPMOD) with the same map mods applied.
3. You quit the game and go to save location folder of "MAPMOD" and copy from there "map_ver" to folder of your existing save.
4. You enjoy your new maps
THIS. Thankyou sir. I just took the hour so long commitment to do as this says, and tested it to verify by driving from Riverside to the Ravencreek entrance, and what would you know, it was there =)
Looking forward to finding new places to die.
Won't this also override the other areas, meaning if you have a base in Muldraugh for example, the version of Muldraugh that will be loaded will be the one in new save file?
No, just playtested. After a chunk is loaded, it tends to just stay that way unless you go further by resetting the chunks too, which is a seperate file.
So I added a new map to a chunk I never explored, while retaining my old bases and status of every other chunk I have already visited.
hi, where did you check which map_ files are for raven creek? I've got my base in rosewood and tried deleting all map_512_*** and above and got raven creek to appear, but also my base in rosewood was gone. Any way to check which files are rosewood?
raven creek is a 8x8 cell square on the bottom left corner of the map
here you can understand a bit better how to interpret cells and coords: https://www.reddit.com/r/projectzomboid/comments/s1gvyz/need_help_reset_region_cellchunk/
i figured i would delete a 9x9 square on the bottom left just to be sure to include all of raven creek
so I deleted all map files where the first number was between 290-590 and the second number between 1075-1364
i wrote this script to automate the deleting: https://pastebin.com/hpnzWn0y (if you are going to use it, make sure you backup your save first)
this alone doesn't reset the map, you also have to do what Grizzly said above to replace the map_ver.bin file
and that's it! hope it helps
could you help me with your script, im trying to addd the rosewood expansion but my base is in the rosewood firestaion, i dont want to reset my base, the expansion is above rosewood and doesnt touch the pd anyway but i cant get it work
Another tip, keep notes as to what file was removed and the effect. When I just did it, the date went from 8/02 back to 7/12 AND, 9am to 5am, AND the weather went from partly cloudy to outright rain.
