blocking stair enterance
to break stairs I have to be lvl 3 carpenter, but can I just place impassible objects like tables, chairs, beds etc on the enterance or exit of stairs and thus block them off? or will the zombies just break/ignore them?

find a sledgehammer, best ways of braking stairs, you don't need lvl 3 carpenter. You can try to block stairs with tables ,beds etc but zombie will brake some of then after a wild.

well, carpentry 3 + sledgehammer is very high requirment when day 8 helicopter brings 500+ zombies to your house.

you just need the sledgehammer(no lvl 3 carpenter), next time just try to run as far away from your house,as soon as you ear helicopter event.

I did, but when I came back there were lots of them crawling around. killed like 100 outside + pulled out another 200+ just to get back in and still hosts sit around not far

Just make sure you have a car with gas by the time helicopter event comes, then drive far away, helicopter will follow you and zombies will be far away from your house.

Its kind of a cheat but it works, plus without a car that event is a little unfair.

With a car its easy.

well after the update facing tons of zombie like that gonna be impossible tho...

with current patch you can get mods the katana and mow them over, using vanilla games your only option is to run and get decent car, or just run away with no cars, helicopter event is there to ruin your base operation forcing you to move away and start over.

don't think car would help. there was a mist and snowstorm going on, but I guess I didn't run far enough.

Fair enough you could of died in car crash easy done that, did not no the weather, my event is always early in game for the most part good weather, I think cause that event only happens to me once unless I do do to settings or custom mode, i like the idea, but no reward for living threw it kinda bums me. Its Just like I am out to kill you. If there was some kinda of reward for being alive at the end, be great. But the just I am in a helio I am going to sit and watch you die seems, silly to me. So when I play custom I only have it on once, and make sure I have a car before it hits.

I think the reward is being alive and still having a base. pretty good one if you ask me.

If you hung around your base too long, after the helicopter event started, then the zombies were already on the way to your base.

If you then leave the area of your base too fast, those zombies will not be pulled away from your base by the helicopter that is following you. So a hoard will remain at your base.

So you should slowly leave your base, to make sure those zombies come to your new location, rather than the old location. In this way, you can use the helicopter to clear ALL the zombies away from your base. At least for a while.

Some furniture the zombies cannot break, use that stuff to block the stairwell. Like a refrigerator.

in the new animations it looks as if they can crawl over stuff now.

I used refrigerator to block the stairs and it worked perfectly, but I left the area for a few days to bait helicopter far away in the middle of nowhere (worked), and when I came back the refrigerator was gone - no broken pieces of it, nothing, just gone.
Also I had a look at custom creation for 6 months later and it says that helicopter comes in only one time in a zone. Is the zone the entire game map or it's just some small area where you were at the time of the event?
it was quite funny how that helicopter brought in 0 zombies comparing to the hell I was in some of the previous attempts.

It's very useful get a couple guns in the first few days for the helicopter. When you hear it, you can start dragging them away with any gun, preferably shotgun for that sweet aiming exp. You can also setup for a raid on a place in the mean time by dragging the zombies from there with your gunshots while dealing with the helicopter horde.
