Why am I panicked?
So just started playing... enjoying so far, got to a little farm area and looted it, there was one zombie locked away in a room which I disposed of.... started getting dark, figured this place might be as good as any to get rest... but mt "panicked" is in extreme panic and won't go away... I Don't see any zombies around? I even moved the corpse far away.... but for some reason being around the house puts me into panic. If I leave the house and go around the panic goes away... but when I go back to the house it rises up fully again.

This a bug or am I missing something?

You're character may have the claustrophobic trait
Being indoors makes him panicked and can be prevent using beta blockers

Thanks, too bad i haven't found any of those. Guess I shouldn't have picked claustrophobic for a starting character, but I made a lumberjack and decided that claustrophobic is a "RP sensical" idea.

You can sleep in tents if you'll craft or find one. Or just move chairs and with high enough carpentry - beds. There are flat roofs accessible via staircases like schools. Sounds bad for winter though.

Do you get panicked in cars? If you park car next to a wall so zombies cant break window next to your seat you should be safe too. Might get in trouble when climbing out if you get surrounded though.

Yeah I found a car but I didn't end up doing too much with it, I went into it but I think I needed keys to do anything with it and I didn't see any of those around?

Accidentally wasted the gasoline I had on it too thinking I'd need to do that before realising I couldn't drive it.

Ended up walking around for half an hour before my character who too tired to run /walk and a small group of zombies chased him down and that's it, sad to say, My lumberjack ain't ok.

You could carry around a floor/homemade mattress or create/find a tent kit to sleep. It is also possible to sleep in cars. Just note sleeping on anything but a bed will not be the best and you may wake up with pain or not well rested.

I tool Agoraphobic and "run faster when panicked" on a lark and it was more fun than I thought it would be but I avoided Clausterphobic like the plague because of what you are running into. You would pretty much need to be outside ALWAYS. You can find cot's in trailer parks that you can use to build an outside base with or just move a bed outside. Does anybody know if just having a couple walls and a roof would be ok or does any building material cause it to trigger?

Thats a rough one OP, i'd restart with a new toon if it were me. Sounds worse than the "deaf" character challenge.

Next April Fools I hope they add a "blind" trait, just for those of us crazy enough to try it.

You can siphon gas back if you have not full gas can in your main inventory. Right clcik on the hood of car should give option of 'inspect car condition'. If car has gas in tank (and you have empty can) Siphon gas will be in listed there too.
Keys... can be in car seats, glove box, on the ground nearby (model is quite big so if you dont see its probably not there) or on any zombie that can shamble away.
