On my main game I was washing my clothes and took off everything (including the shoes) and put them in the machine. Little did I know is that the glass residue left on the floor would actually harm me. The small pile of glass sent two shards deep into both of my feet rendering me basically crippled. Thankfully I was near my base and had medical supplies when it happened but it easily could have been a game ender if 2 or 3 zombies decided to check me out.

Always wear shoes because ground glass is bad for feet

They are important if you run without em you get scratches on your feet, you can get foot pain if you stomp on zombies so yeah, morale of the story there are a lot of shoes around us take at least a pair :P

Also remember that stomping zombies damages your footwear over time so keep spare sets of shoes for later in the game. Hopefully they implement a way to repair clothing soonish.
