Hi, I was facing the same issues with character's textures. THIS CAN BE SOLVED by forcing OS X to use Integrated GPU instead of dedicated GPU. There is actually an app that allows users to switch from one GPU to another, or even setup dynamic GPU switch (as OS X does by default).

Here are 2 links to 2 GitHub projects (one is a fork of the other) :

- https://github.com/codykrieger/gfxCardStatus (Original) (Last update 4 years ago)
- https://github.com/steveschow/gfxCardStatus (Forked) (Last update 3 years ago)

Install process :
1. Install Homebrew : https://brew.sh/
2. Install one of the apps to control GPU use :
2a. Install gfxcardstatus application : brew cask install gfxcardstatus
2b. Install steveschow-gfxcardstatus application : brew cask install steveschow-gfxcardstatus
3. Force Integrated GPU on top bar application menu
4. ENJOY THE NEW VERSION

I've tested both on a late 2013 retina macbook pro with NVIDIA 750m and Catalina 10.5.5. I don't have enough feedback to say if there is any difference between them because there mostly the same project, and I've just discovered them.

I'll keep you updated if there is anything remarkable to add

Cheers !

You'r the best !!!!!!!!!!!

Just to clarify: I was making a poor attempt at humor with the catalina wine mixer comment...

Anyways... I'm running a late '13 intel mac as well... though nvidia graphics...

GL...

I'm thinking this all has to do with the updates to 64bit application support. Mac no longer supports to 32bit apps. Especially if you have the Catalina Wine MXR update, its completely unplayable, as with most of the 32bit apps in your steam library.

i am on a mac catalina os and the textures on zombies and characters are not there only the colors it looks a bit cooler when its 2d but when you wear something like a jacket or anything that isn't a sweater or vest nothing changes except the color.

Guys, this will not work if you do not have two video cards. Sad.

The way is to wait for developers to think about how to improve the game for users with older MacBooks.

I found a fix for this.

If you have dual graphics cards like most Macbook Pros, run this console command and restart your mac.

sudo pmset -b gpuswitch 0

This will always use the integrated graphics card while running on battery power, solving the graphics issue.

To change it back to your regular setting run this command:

sudo pmset -b gpuswitch 2

Good luck all!

There’s no way around it, from what I’ve seen. Apple does not allow users to select their target gpu unlike in Windows. An app that allowed this was pulled, from what I could find online.

Best bet would be to just dual boot windows if you have the space.

This app works for me: https://gfx.io/ (For Selecting the GPU on MacOS)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
