I absolutely adore stews, especially the ones you make on open fire :)
Its just something about the uniformity in taste and texture that just really puts me off.
Sure you fill it with great tasting things but after cooking it when they all have the exact same mushy/starchy texture and uniform taste it just feels like im shoveling some sort of nutrient paste into my mouth.
Gameplay wise I dont think there is any signifigant difference. Certain thangs can and cant be put into either soup/stew and Stew Takes longer to cook. Beyond that though they are almost identicle in terms of functionality.
Thats what I always found weird in Pz food making. You can put completely different foods in a meal, and your character will still get happy when he eats it.
Ex: Avocado, Peanut Butter, cheese, butter, and mustard sandwich. -15 Unhappiness
What's so weird about it ?
Ever heard about the happiness hormone (i think it' called serotonin) ?
It's evolution's way to say "Good job, you have done something to help you survive or prelong species"
Taste on the other hand... well... let's say different people have different tastes, but someone smart once said "hunger is the best sauce"
Agreed, i always have at least 2 freezers full will tasty stews..
So, you would like to eat the sandwich I just proposed? Or are you saying that you would be happy to eat it if you were starving?
I never care for this response, I think most people at the very least would like to have plans for the future even if they dont typically make it that far, for me, it took a while but im on my second character prepping for winter, first one is still alive (and mid winter) but I got sick of default respawn settings, 10% every 3 days is a bit...tedious and tiresome at a certain point, particularily since I boosted max zombies and maldruagh is not that low to begin with.
So trying to do research on caloric differences between stew\soup\stir fry is something Ive attempted and this is by far the most common answer I have found. "You probably wont get that far so no point in answering the question." or "You will have more than enough canned goods for how ever long you survive" the second one couldnt be any more short sighted, depending on your town I suppose its really easy to run out of USEFUL canned goods, its like sure, your pantry might be stocked full of canned goods but how many are dense enough in calories to keep you from becoming too low in weight? fishing and trapping are the only real mid-long game way of preserving a healthy weight without driving to every gas station in the game, cuz there are only so many tubs of ice cream, chocolate bars and bags of chips...etc. I dont care about the canned pinneaple sitting on my shelf until I can make a pizza with it damnit!
Though im not throwing shade at this person, he did answer the question in the first part, just reminds me of the most common theme I run into when Im trying to find info on survival past week 1 let alone the month 1
And getting some crops running isn't exactly hard, especially when water source are infinite (river, lake, or rain - but the later is a bit random) and you only need to find the seeds once.
Really? I almost exclusively grow cabbages (some strawberries too) and quite often pound them down till im full to bursting, does not seem to do anything in the weight departement for me. Maybe im too active, I do assume there is a system in the game keeping track of calories burned, but ill try packing more of them into a single meal and see if that helps. Typically though to reverse early (varies since I cant track how into the red I am) weight loss it takes about a full rabbit (also varies due to size but lets say about 60 hunger worth) plus all the cabbage I add to either a stew or stir fry to reverse loss or begin gaining from neutral, I have a hard time imagining pure cabbages are better but im assuming your right and it can be done, maybe I just have to eat non stop.
