Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Project zomboid wont run in normal mode
I need some help.

Whenever I run it in compatibility mode, I can barely see rain and of course can't zoom in or out... But when I tried normal mode, there's a little box outline in top right, everything seems super zoomed in, and I can't see my character and there seem to be some texture issues as well.

I can't find any solutions anywhere and was wondering if I could get some help. Thank you

You can right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' to get your computer information.
Or, you can type in the windows search box 'dxdiag' and run that. It will tell you everything about your computer.

1. Resolution is set to 1980 x 1080 in settings.

2. DPI scaling is 100%. any larger and it messes up my screen.

3. No idea, have not touched it.

4. Nvidia GeForce 730M. It's a lenovo gaming laptop.

thats my DxDiag through display settings.

Also when I alt tab and bring up the black sccreen with all the code, or alt tab in from outside of game, it'll look how it's supposed to for a couple seconds. Before Zooming in on the bottom left hand corner of my screen. No idea why.

And compatibility mode drives me nuts -- all the items in hydrocraft ar the size of planets. It looks correct in normal mode, but like I said for 2 seconds.

I do have 3 monitor display above my laptop. They're 24 inch screens larger then my laptop screen. But when I game it's unplugged and only laptop is on -- the other 3 are for work.
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 1:13pm
Yes global settings set to Nvidia card.

The nvidia control panel does not have a 'display' tab. In fact it only has one tab. the first tab.
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 1:17pm
seems my laptop display is connected directly to my integrated card and I annot change that. The actual global settings is set to the nvidia card. But since the display runs on my intel chipset.... there's no display option to look at scaling in the control panel.

mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 1:30pm
In HD graphics family. I've tried running the game on a few of the 4 scaling options.

Same thing keeps happening.
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 1:46pm
another thing: This bug doesn't START til i try to play a game.

Then alt tabbing out then back into the game, the screen looks normal for a couple seconds.

If i manage to exit game, this bug then proceeds to keep happening on the title screen.
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 2:08pm
Ok. I tried disabling zoom in options and it kind of worked. the screens not all screwy anymore, but its zoomed in right in on my characters head so I can't see far at all.

And if i re enable zoom while in game, the screen zooms all the way on bottom left hand corner of screen again. even re disabling zoom doesn't fix it after that point.
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 3:00pm
Ok. So disabling zoom sort of works.

Or setting zoom levels to 50% or 75% seem to work. I can zoom in and out on those, but only out to the default view and back in to super close in of your character. clicking any higher enabling zoom levels it just zooms into the bottom left of my screen to match the level from anything above 75% to 250%.... and wont let me zoom.

Someone, anyone, help :(
Knuckles41 Sep 18, 2017 @ 3:19pm
Try reinstalling the game? shot in the dark but might work
.: DBM :. Sep 18, 2017 @ 3:33pm
Maybe it's a Java problem. Do you have the latest installation of x64 Java, and are you launching the game with the 64-bit executable?
mausmane Sep 18, 2017 @ 4:04pm
fully uninstalled. uninstalled Java 7 and installed Java 8.

Booted game;

Same thing.

I only have 'play project zomboid' and 'compatibility mode' to play from. Booting from the .json executable files either 32 or 64 in the game folder results in same error.

halp...
