I haven't tried at the gunshop, but you can disassemble locked doors from the outside. Might be only on IWBUMS. You need a screwdriver and a hammer. I think it makes perfect sense as a way to lockpick a door.

Usually you can find a sledgehammer at the warehouse south of the gunshop. You can also try the toolshop on the mainstreet, next (left) to the foodstore.

I wouldn´t recomend using fire because it will spread and destroy the building if it catches fire. Once threw a Molotow at a horde resulting in half of the city burned down.

I got the front door out of the way but the problem is behind that door there is a metal grid through which I cant get through

yeah there should be a warehouse with a sledgehammer nearby the gunshop. Just look at the map

check the hardware store downtown, the warehouse on the south side of town and the storage lot adjacent to it for a sledgehammer.
