No, I don't trust the method of using regular bleach. Even in small doses it can be harmful. Boiling and filtering the water is the best method of survival.

Darn right. I've learned how to make a makeshift still in real-life for this very reason. Using purifying chems works, but I'd use them, and then still boil and filter.

Thomas this is from the link you sent.

"Disinfect water using household bleach, if you can’t boil water. Only use regular, unscented chlorine bleach products that are suitable for disinfection and sanitation as indicated on the label. Do not use scented, color safe, or bleaches with added cleaners. If water is cloudy, let it settle and filter it through a clean cloth, paper towel, or coffee filter.

Locate a clean dropper from your medicine cabinet or emergency supply kit.
Locate a fresh liquid chlorine bleach or liquid chlorine bleach that is stored at room temperatures for less than one year. The label should say that it contains 8.25% of sodium hypochlorite.
Use the table below as a guide to decide the amount of bleach you should add to the water, for example, add 6 drops of bleach to each gallon of water. Double the amount of bleach if the water is cloudy, colored, or very cold.Glass containers
Stir and let stand for 30 minutes. The water should have a slight chlorine odor. If it doesn’t, repeat the dosage and let stand for another 15 minutes before use.
If the chlorine taste is too strong, pour the water from one clean container to another and let it stand for a few hours before use."

The tools are here in PZ for making a water filtration system.

Seem's a bit lazy for a survival game not having a filtration system we can build.

:bleach:=Not so good used as an evening cocktail
It's real. I, however, completely ill-advise it for survival.

Sawyer life straw is only $15 on Amazon. Let's go and get some real equipments, like a pro.
How to survive in an emergency situation:
Pour bleach in your drink.

I somehow find this idea repulsive.

And to be honest, I don't want anyone to try that at home when seeing it ingame.
Let's not give idiots any ideas. You know there are idiots out there who are going to try it,
if you display mixing bleach with dirty water ingame.

I bet the 'dirt, aggregate, and charcoal' would taste better. Its like a moutain creek, it purifies and cleans the water, and makes it drinkable. Where bleach, is just chemicals, just enough to kill the bacteria, but hopefully not you.

I was commenting on the taste difference. Charcoal actually does a great job of removing bad tastes from water. That is why almost every single water filter in existance contains charcoal.

Both bleach and charcoal would make good additions to the water-purification pool, and probably wouldn't be game-breaking given the availability of water. If the devs wanted to change water in sinks and toilets to having a % chance of causing illness then it would be a fantastic way to counterbalance it.

From my experience in the marine-aquarium trade, there are few things in the natural world capable of sucking up organic not-so-do-gooders like a little active carbon. Good for flushing toxins like alcohol or mold metabolites from the body on the fly, too, as well as stripping triglycerides and cholesterols from the blood. It's good stuff!

You can make charcoal by chopping wood into small blocks, putting them in a metal drum and building a fire around the drum with the lid placed loosely on top. It'd be great to have as a fuel for cooking food and for filtering water.

Also, yeah. Purifiying water with bleach would be a great idea as well.
