Microwave
Can someone explain all those settings in Microwave/Oven?

I assume some of them are for different heating levels, that's why I don't quite get it.
If you want a steak to be cooked in the fastest way, you would turn up the heat as much as you can, right?
So why would anyone need any other settings ever? Or do they actually offer different stats to the food you cook?
( For example slow cooked food with medium fire offers better stats than fast cooked food with highest temp )

I cooked a fresh raw steak in a microwave using highest setting and it added boredom AND sadness to my steak, what the actual f*ck? It's even worse than using campfire.

It's just about how quick you can get your food cooked/burnt.

>Steak
>Microwave
Sometimes I feel really sad about this world...

Ever tried to microwave a steak? Or any raw meat for that matter? It does not end well. Go ahead and try it, I guarentee you will not eat the abomination that comes out. Microwaves are for defrosting and heating pre-cooked food et-cetera, et-cetera.

You don't use them to cook raw or frozen meat, the same as in real life. Especially not at max setting, unless you enjoy eating the green/brown sludge that was once a beef burger. Although you'll be hard pressed to identify it as such after you 'nuke' it in the microwave.

Sarcasm aside, in the game you only want to use it to cook things like popcorn, tv dinners, fries and so on. Basically junk food items and some pre-cooked stuff.

Edit: Almost forgot, you can warm tea and some other items up in the microwave. It's useful for that. Honestly though, you're better off sticking to a cooker in the game or a BBQ if you have no generator and gas/petrol. Even a crappy campfire is better.

You actually CAN microwave meat, but you need a special cookware or oven bags. There's nothing physically different about microwave cooking that turns meat bad, you just need to know the right way to do it. You don't just pop a steak into the microwave on high and hope for the best.

For example, one dish you can use for meat is a browning dish. It has a special coating that absorbs heat so you can actually brown meat on it!

I know but I was talking about without any of that, which is the same thing that happened in his game with the added boredom and sadness on his steak.

You're right in that you can get special bags and cookware, however this is not simulated in the game and it just acts like you put it in a microwave and cooked it raw or from frozen. In which case, it certainly will mess the meat up in a very bad way. Just as it would in the real world, not that I know anyone that uses a microwave for proper cooking, but still.

Anyway, that's why you can only really use stuff like popcorn, tv dinners and so on with the microwave in the game. Things like steak and such just get a serious boredom/sadness debuff on them, to represent what happens to raw/frozen meat when you don't have the required items needed to cook it properly in a microwave.

Either way, I was mostly being sarcastic. It wasen't meant to be read as a serious post, it's just banter Baijiu. Goodluck.

I came here to see if there's a difference with temperature and if some settings are better and ended up reading an entire paragraph about some nerds telling me how microwave works.... Man... If this isn't a "get a life" moment idk what is H0LY Sh|t lol

I'm gonna necro this thread because I want to know what the first setting does. The second one is a defrost setting, by the looks of it, and the next three are low, medium and high power settings, but the first one looks like a popcorn setting or something? I don't recognise the icon.

Does anyone know?

I think the first one is maybe some kind of liquid (soups, coffees) heating setting?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
