You can. most fresh food will be bad so you will get canned and chips and other foods that dont go bad. For water each house has a little bit of water left in sink, tub, and toilet even if the water is off at this time. (should go to the school for water cuz of big bathrooms) I normaly wait to grow food but you should start ASAP for six months later. other then that it a normal start. I hope this helps and ask me anything if you need. i have 600+ hours atm.

Like Shenji said you can find a body of water find a cooking pot and boil on a camp fire too. Then you will have clean water forever. Get water from most of the homes 1st because you dont have to boil to make clean.

I guess what I'm having the most difficulty with is the huge horde of zombies. I mean the horde just seems evenly large everywhere, there's no break in their numbers. The only viable tactic I can think of is to go from house to house hoping not too many see me. I spend more time fighting them than gathering resources to hold my own.

Plus weapon durability stinks, less than three minutes I've used by bat. Then I have to use my hammer. I don't like using guns cause they draw a crowd towards me. But I guess I just suck:P

Try using a knife its the best bat kinda bad. knife one shot kill. I hope you the best! : )

Water purifying filter, which can even filter virus and heavy metal contamination, is very common in faucets among modern kitchens, if you don't know it then it's your problem. Also there are tons of water purifying products(simple to use without setup), from Life-straw to Berkey, they were pretty common even in 1990s(maybe in other brand names though), especially in suburb and rural land of America.
Don't say 'cheating' every time when you see something you don't understand or don't know, just behave.

Yes i know what Water purifying filter is. But the way you build this thing seems like an exploit to get fresh water. Its like tricking the game to think you have fresh water. So please tell me what the filter is? The garbage bag that in the rain collector that has no holes to let water out. Maybe if you said you add water purification tablets to the rain collector then you use the sink then i would say thats fine but you didn't. For this thing you add no water purification tablets or have a filter to make the water clean Just a random sink that has nothing on it that tricks the game to think your sink still has water. So yes this is an Exploit to get fresh water which is cheating. Have a good day.

Ok Thanks! for clearing this up. If i was told this at the start that it was added by the devs I would have stop right away but was not. I was getting call that i was dumb because I didnt understand how Water purifying filter works. Shenji should have said it was added by the Devs and linked where they talked about it. The PZ wiki clearly states that it is a bug, under the Rain Barrel section.

IRL, a household water filter wouldn't catch microbes--they were designed to filter out hardwater or metal particles from corroded pipes. I don't think that even a reverse-osmosis filter would be capable of such a thing, and their filter-pads are much finer.

Ok thank you seem kinda weird devs would put that ingame. They were just lieing to me and others kinda sad they would say that.
