Crashes on boot.
It wont fully boot and crashes when loading character texture pack. (Not sure if that is related)
I have reinstalled and still have the same issue. I have just built a new PC, and have had no other issues with any other games. Here is my error log.

You were exactly right! I had Nahimic 2 install (Comes with MSI motherboard) That apears to be the issue. How strange. Thanks a bunch!

Hey there having the same problem and doing -nosound makes it run the game now but then how do i make it so i actually have audio or is it not possible?
samurei12 Jan 14, 2018 @ 10:58pm
Yeah using the non vehicle build and sadly when i do that instead of -nosound it goes back to crashing at loading character texture packs

on the vehicle build -nosound works still but -novoip crashes after character creation

I had this exact problem, and I have Nahimic 2 and an MSI PC. I was able to start using "-nosound", but then there's no sound of course.

Once the game starts with no sound, I went to Options\Sound, my "Signal From Microphone" was in red, and said "Error! Check record device frequency".

I quit the game, then opened my Nahmic control panel, went to the "Microphone" tab, on the left I clicked on the microphone icon (under Internal Microphone), and it was set for "Stereo, 16 bits, 48kHz", I changed it to "Stereo, 16bits, 44.1kHz".

Then, I removed "-nosound", and it was able to start with sound!!! Going back to the Options\Sound menu, I have the exact same error message in red, but the audio works now (not sure about the microphone).

I played this game a ton and all of a sudden it started having the problem stated above. Tried a bunch of fixes listed in other support threads and nothing helped. FINALLY found this thread after typing "invalid object handle" in the search bar.
I used the "-nosound" fix mentioned above and hallelujah it freaking worked.
HOWEVER no sound in a game that requires keeping an ear out for zombie noises sucks ass.
My problem turned out to be the fact that I use a flatscreen TV hooked to my laptop via an HDMI cable as a monitor. Try to play the game with the TV hooked up and it crashes. Unhook the TV before launching the game and everything works fine. Even after plugging the TV back in to my laptop.
It NEVER did this before.
Somehow or another the default communications device in the audio mixer for my laptop got switched to my TV, so the game couldn't discover a microphone while trying to launch.
Switched the default communications device back to the laptop and everything is peachy again.
