Is there any rain gear in the game?
Just wondering if there is any clothing that can protect against the rain. Seems like it's been raining constantly the last few days and it's preventing me from going out on long scavenging runs.

Edit:
Also, does regular clothing help against the rain or even make any difference at all? I'm pretty much always naked because of the heat.

Ah ok, cool thanks. The thing I noticed about the rain poncho when playing hydrocraft is that it doesn't really keep you dryer it just has a higher temp. But then again I didn't really play too much of the mod yet.

Yeah, I'm not sure if there's a hidden protection but when I moused over the poncho it just said Temp: 10, so I figured it was just warmer than say a vest. And I didn't really notice a difference in rain protection.

I'm pretty sure Hydro or one of the modders that created items for his mod added some Lua-side code that affects how wet a player gets in the rain. Ponchos, rain jackets .etc should all prevent the player from getting wait / let the player dry over time in the rain.

Yep, there it is -- in UmbrellaModStayDry011pu.lua, for anyone curious on seeing how it can be done.

Otherwise, these are not in the base game -- after all, the only clothing item it has are vests, shirts, blouses, and pants. Though there is an unused umbrella sprite, there's no in-hand model for it. :(
Good to know. Definitely going to do a hydrocraft playthrough after I die in my current game. I actually started my first game with it but without experience it's hard enough to know which are the critical items for looting; add in the bajillion items that hydrocraft has and it's quite dizzying.

If you don't mind getting wet first, you could probably get away with carrying towels or switching out towels you discover at places you scavenge.

Yep, I carry 4 towels on me at all times. Probably overkill but I often go on loooong hikes.

I usually take along 1 dishcloth / dishtowel instead of a normal bath towel. Main reason: less weight. Haven´t looked at the exact numbers recently but found out quite some time ago.

Can´t you wring them out by hand (anymore)?

Made that experience, too. No rainprotection at all.
If you´re looking for temp-stats (and everything else) take a look here:

Not having rain gear is a good thing from a gameplay perspective because it gives one cause to avoid exposure to the elements. It's somewhat a more manageable alternative to (say) having random lightning strikes being in the game.

In other words, getting wet is a manageable risk, where you can minimize your exposure and observe varying consequences accordingly. But if there were insta-kill random lightning strikes in the game, then there would be frustration due to that randomness.

Considering the matter further, death from lightning would have no end to forum complaints, despite the observation that one shouldn't have been outside during a thunderstorm.

Mind you, the core issue from the OP isn't the lack of rain gear, but that the RNG is causing too much rain to occur. This doesn't seem to be a common issue; just bad luck in this case. For all the players in this game, there is going to be *someone* getting the short end of RNG stick.

Also there is a code for raining boots in the xml files, i discovered it time ago when i was digging the files.

And you always can pick the outdoor trait, its a good way to handle the rain as well.
