Generators
How do generators exactly work? Does it help to use multiple ones depending on the amount of electric appliances hooked up or does it simply drain x amount of fuel.

Also is it possible to create your own fuell or can you simply get a endless suply from the gas station.

Im pretty sure if you have the mod you can hook up a generator to the gas station(s) when the power goes out to get the gas, and yes it drains the fuel from a single generator you dont need multiple but it is good to have backups if anything happens.
never ever place generator indors

If you want to make your own homemade fuel use Hydrocraft Mod. Gas supply will run out as soon as power goes out.
Want to know what Hydro (and vanilla) will let you craft? Check out this page: http://undeniable.info/pz/wiki/recipelist.php

Agree with all posters before me: you already have the link to the Pumppower mod + never place generators inside as they will poison you.

I once tried using a generator: placed it outside the house with the fridges right behind the wall when power was out. It worked (in my game).

Currently i´m trying another solution: solar power (Hydrocraft Mod). Already crafted a solar park (check my artworks - can´t upload "screenshots" of PZ as i bought it from GOG) and i wonder what will happen when power goes out :)

I actually noticed that during the day, when we have our generator turned off to safe gass the fridges keep on running..

Microwaves and the likes also seem to work with the generator being off.

Sounds logical if it continues to work for a while. The insulation will keep the cool temerature for a while without power. If this was done on purpose by the dev´s: wow, i´m impressed!

Thats very inaccurate , while refrigerator does work for a while(all depends how many times its opened during that time and isulation) then it needs in incresed workload , time to get temprature and extra electricity

If you ever owned a fridge or two you know before you can actualy start using it you need to turn it on for atleast 48h depending on model

Im not entirely sure what would be effect of "turning it on and off across day" but i cant belive its as pretty as it sounds

No I mean the fridges are active and making sound.

Ok, i see. That´s strange indeed.
Thought you ment working = keeping things inside cool for a while when power went out.

You know, that is a good observation. And (yes) it should be brought to the devs' attention.

I am working on testing a few things to make sure it is not caused by mods. I am running a vanila server with a friend and we are doing a few quick tests.

So far it seems that ones a generator is hooked up and the electronics are turned on the generator can be removed and the appliances still function. Some you can interact with like fridges and microwaves other things such as lamps will still show their light but you can't work them no more other then removing the bulb
