gun removal?
is there any way to change the game so that NO guns appear anywhere in the game?

In (simulated) Kentucky, USA?? You serious??

Well, you could just change the loot availability, but nothing specific in the settings allows this as far as I know.

i mean like changing what certain files say, not in-game settings

Well you could check Item Distribution, or maybe annotate the firearms in the items and newitems.txt in the scripts folder.
To be honest, it never even occured to be that someone would want to get rid of guns. :D

i want the challenge of not having weapons that can kill from a distance.

I thought you were thinking about unableing survivors to shoot each other in MP.

Nobody is saying it's stupid. :D It could be a great idea for people who play the Medieval mod.
Since rapid-fire, beltfed, squad automatic weapons, kinda breaks the illusion. :D
No, I don't think it's stupid. It's just that I'm already scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with runner zombies in large groups. I can't imagine playing without the ability to avoid head to head combat at least every once in a while.
I do get that if you set hordes to be no that big and each zombie not so close to each other, you can play a great commandos style strategy game.

Only think I can do is suggest the obvious: just don't use the guns you find.

Pistol, shotgun, sawed off shotgun, hunting rifle, and varmit rifle comprose the vanilla guns.

Doing it this way (the easy way) will break MP compatibilty, so back up the items.txt/newitems.txt file first before tampering wtih it. (Copy it to the desktop, or out of the scripts folder.)
thanks. i had a feeling doing something like that would make it happen, just didn't want to mess up.
how do the items.txt and the newitems.txt differ?

Items.txt is the old, default file.
newitems.txt is the new items.
If you don't want an item, just delete them from there. At least that is what Enigma says. Seems to me the distribution lists might create errors for items that are not defined in the items lists.
