I guess that would depend on your computer. As for an actual physical limit in the game engine, I have no idea. I have seen the entire screen FULL of zombies before, so its a lot.

Without knowing whether there are any in-built caps on that... that would be the maximum length of an unsigned integer. But the game would hard lock long before that many zombies made it on-screen at once. Plus you wouldn't be able to see that many zombies at once even if you zoomed out as far as possible.

But if you mean in the game world total, that's the beauty of the "cloud" system; zombies don't explicitly exist (from what I understand) until you actually go somewhere, so in theory you could have a map the size of the entire United States and since everywhere except where you currently are isn't loaded, it might be fine.

I once had over 150 zombies on my screen. I was horrifyingly in awe.

As for maximum number of zombies, I don't know. I imagine it's limitless but it depends on your computer.

It's A LOT. Like, "lag your computer no matter how good it is" lot. We are talking thousands on screen at once. Yeah, I tried it ONCE. It was a complete slideshow of lag.

You can manipulate the number in some ways, if you have a good cpu enable the cheat engine and spawn zeds, you will notice how epic this game is coded.

Don't even need cheat engine. Just run a server as an administrator and spawn zombies.

Its hard to count them. I have gotten rather good at counting the packs of 10 and surmising what makes 100, then 1000, and then it gets blurry. I tested my counts by using an indestructible barricade to shoot them all dead and check my kill count. Usually when I say 2000, I get anywhere from 1800 kills to 2200 kills so my counts are fairly accurate.

When they get bunched up in a ball, the horde can get deceptively big. Looks like a large ball of zombies and it expands into thousands when pulled in different directions.

On the good old dayz PVE server, I routinely destroy hordes of 3000 in 5 minutes using campfires fire and bombs.


But at one point, I lured everything from the Mall parking lot from one direction(Was several thousand), then everything from the highway of the racetrack/Airfield from another direction(Another 1500), and then came down by the hunting lodge to the shooting range(Which had a goodly amount in the trees).

The point was to get as many as possible.

It was spectacular. I had an alt account on Multiple skyboxes with a rifle. I then brought a guy with 6 motion sensor pipe bombs once I got them all concentrated.

It also illustrates how deceptive that many zombies can be as they surround me. I clear lower Westpoint twice a day(I am kinda the server horde exterminator) and when people try to help me when I am facing a zombie ball, they usually leave saying "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" when the zombie ball begins breaking up and they realize just how many are there.

And then I used my alt in the shooting range to draw them away while creatively placing all 6 motion sensor pipe bombs. I called this video "The largest campfire"

But here are some of the guys on the good old dayz PVE server having fun. We snagged hordes from all over to bring to the Racetrack and I gave everyone pipe bombs. Thank god I used an alt this day. Drunken blowing up of zombies was fun and dying when it was down to 50 was sad haha
