Stepping on zombies head instead of using weapon?

Hi there after watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UJsWiQLM0U

You can see almost at the end and even at times during the whole vid the player doesn't use the weapon he's wielding to kill the zombie, instead stomps their heads with his foot.

Can't seem to be able to replicate this, my character always uses the weapon and seems like a mechanic worth being aware of. Anyone knows how it's done?

Press whatever button you have assigned to pushing/shoving zeds to stomp on downed zeds.

While holding right-click to aim, press the Spacebar and you'll use a shove/stomp regardless of what weapon you have equipped. Very handy when you wanna preserve weapon condition!
